Wifi sucks?
Wi-Fi sucks! I've had the Steam deck for over a month and it never ceases to amaze me how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bad the wifi is? I constantly have the problem of the yellow exclamation mark when waking up, downloading games is a headache... and it is not a problem with my network, I have tried on different networks and it is not better (And I don't think it's my problem either because I've seen a lot of people complaining about the wifi).

So what is the problem? is it a driver problem or did they just buy the cheapest wifi chips they found on aliexpress?

The Wi-Fi isn’t the best. I don’t get full bars and I’m less than 10 feet from the router. However my deck never drops internet and can maintain 50-70mbs

Not sure of your model but my 64g emmc is a big bottleneck. Downloading or even transferring from another drive is painful. I expect that to improve with a m.2 upgrade though.

I've 256Gb version, it's a headache every time I try to download a game.

Yeah, Wi-Fi has some problems with 5GHZ networks. It was even worse on release but it did get an update.
But even after the update, I've still had the yellow exclamation mark when downloading something and connection problems with steam cloud. The solution for me was to turn off Wi-Fi power saving mode in the DEV settings. Since then I have no problems anymore.

can u turn that off without enabling developer mode? been running into that yellow wifi problem randomly on deck, wether its deck or a cloud problem causing the unsteady wifi, its annoying

Not that I know but there is no harm in enabling developer mode.

i was also a bit anxious about enabling it. but its actually much better when i disabled the wifi power saving mode. I wa getting very frequent inexplainable disconnects in the desktop mode, but ever since i disabled the setting i am disconnect free

it really did work

Had the same issue with my Steam Deck in the beginning. Turning on developer mode helped alot... no issues with wifi since than.

If you game online, I'd recommend using a dock with an ethernet jack. Or if you're downloading something, just place the steam deck close to the router so you get full bars.

That defeats the point of the Steam Deck.

My Deck's 5Ghz is fine for the most part. But for some odd reason, when I place the deck next to my monitor to use the desktop mode I sometimes have to switch to 2.4Ghz mode. Otherwise I get the exclamation mark. The router is literally next to the monitor.

I have more issues with wifi range on my note 9 than I do on my deck. At a distance where my note 9 will be having connection issues the deck works great. I get the yellow exclamation on the wifi symbol for 10 seconds or so when I wake it up but it goes away immediately. Also is able to download at my full internet speed until the SD card heats up and throttles.

Today I started to download Forza Horizon 5, It's been 7 hours since it started and It has completed 54%. I have been at home, at work and at a friend's house, 3 different networks and 3 different routers and still it is impossible to get a stable connection (not just the speed) And I have power saving desactivated.

Wow, who would have thought that bringing a device closer to the router the coverage would be better: You're a genius! BTW The Steam Deck is a portable console, it shouldn't need accessories to work properly

Is your connection unstable or is your download speed inconsistent?
