How do you run Minecraft on Steam Deck now?
The PolyMC dev went insane with culture war ravings.

ATlauncher is in the flathub, but I really don't care about prelaoded modpacks. I just want to import my instance folder and continue managing the mod .jars myself.

According to https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2022/10/if-you-use-polymc-for-minecraft-you-should-switch-away-now/ , Microsoft 86'd all existing auths for the PolyMC client. I would not be surprised if MS will not accept it as a launcher now.

The article also mentions other launchers you could use.

(BTW, I'm bummed out too. I really enjoyed using PolyMC and its mod management. I'm hoping a good fork of it will appear.)

Yeah, my linked Minecraft account got unlinked. PolyMC is already a fork of MultiMC, but it isn't available as a flat pack.

GDLauncher does the job quite nicely:

I'm quite new to this non-console Minecraft world, but you need to run a controller mod to get it working natively on Deck (you probably know about this!).

Yeah, https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/controllable and Optifine are mandatory, obviously. And using all the rear grip buttons and touch pad gestures for stuff like opening the backpack for https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/backpacked and opening the map and setting waypoints in Xaero maps.

Although editing the mod config files in desktop mode is a pain in the rear. Text editors kind of need alt and ctrl keys. Whichever Valve employee thought the Steam Deck onscreen keyboard should have an emoji menu, but not alt and ctrl is a silly fool.

The Prism folks are working quickly. I will try it over the weekend.

I started playing Minecraft on my Steam Deck thanks to PolyMC and I really liked it. Now, thanks to your post, I tested Prism Launcher, and managed to export my instance of PolyMC to Prism, so I can use that one instead.
Now I have the same problem in Prism as in PolyMC : I would like to play Minecraft with mods and shaders, but mods require Forge modloader while shaders require Fabric or Quilt modloaders, and when activating of Forge with Fabric or Quilt, the launch of Minecraft crashes. So I have to choose to play either with mods or with shaders. Is this issue related to run Minecraft on the Steam Deck? Isn't there any way to make shaders and mods using multiple modloaders work ?

Edit : Discord told me about Oculus and Rubidium, the Forge ports of Iris and Sodium. Unfortunately Minecraft crashes too when Oculus is activated. Looking for support on the Prism's Discord.

BTW, PrismLauncher ends up in your home in
.var/app/org.prismlauncher.PrismLauncher/data/PrismLauncher
-- just FIY, so you can rsync your instances to it..
