Next to the device drop down see if the monitor is truly detecting (the deck will show as a laptop screen and be set to enabled and primary). If you see your monitor in the drop down, before you do anything else click enable. Probably see nothing otherwise it would have already broadcast likely. Next dumb down the resolution of your monitor to 1080p and match the refresh rate to the deck at 60hz, then hit enable again. Let me know if that worked for you and remember, Luck is always belong to the justice!
When using the Thinkpad 40AY the deck doesn't detect the display at all.
Both docks were updated to the latest firmware. So I guess Thinkpad docks aren't the best solution for Steamdeck right now.

After plugging in the Steam Deck to the hub after switching video output cables Desktop mode immediately asked me how to use the newly added display. The settings - use external only, 1920x1200 resolution - carried over (or just happened to be the same) in Gaming mode.
Looks like it was fixed in a patch added to 6.1.5.arch2-1. Not filtered down to Steam Deck Holo yet.
SD Power On
AS40 plugin plug in
Repeat a few times: HDMI out / HDMI in
After next AS40 reconnect, it needs to be done again... Pretty funny, that each answer ITT has a completely different workaround :)
