Access Controller Settings on Desktop Mode
Hi All,

Appreciate the help in advance. I'm not a big fan of the console overlay, too cluttered, so i set my SD to boot directly into plasma desktop. Everything seems to be working well but obviously the steam button no longer brings up the overlay in game.

The one i'm particularly missing is the screen that enables controller changes for the game that is running (Press Steam Button while in game --> Controller Settings). I realise this is part of SteamOS but the settings I made work perfectly when playing games on desktop mode but i'm unable to get to the configurator.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get to the "Per Game" controller config while in desktop mode? In booting into Desktop, SteamOS is unavailable unless i switch it back.

Many Thanks
Dan

Yes you can

When you click a game in the Library, the button is on the same row as the following buttons, it should be the last one

Store Page, Community Hub, ....., Controller Layout

When you hit "Controller Layout" this should bring a minimalist ui

Appreciate the reply but that is in Steam-OS mode isn't it? Can it be accessed in the steam client? Cheers

Yes, but for most games you will probably need to click on the three dots at the right of that row to see the controller layout option. After you select it, navigate with d-pad and select with A, back with B.

on desktop it's also in the library, but in a slightly different spot.
library>game page>*(settings) >manage>controller layout
if it doesn't crash like it does for me.

You can also when in desktop mode go to Settings then Enable Big Picture mode and when your in game you press the Steam button and it'll open a overlay. It isn't as advanced as in game mode or doing it from the Manage controllers but it'll suffice for minor adjustments.
