desktop mode reset all my icons

So i just switched to desktop and all my icons and programs got removed. now i have a line of folders at the top of the screen. This is incredibly frustrating. other edit desktop items never stay where you left them.

Yesterday the app that relaunches steam broke and had to reset the steam deck. How does that even happen?? its a default utility. desktop mode needs a better cache to keep setting and configs from conflicting

Ya so these folders are NOT shortcuts. I cant remove them now. This is an absolute eyesore and headache.. Im not a Linux user by any means, but this desktop is not functional right now.

So I found all my apps in desk top folder. SO WHY ISNT IT ON MY DESKTOP?? why does home folders appear . i dont want this , change it back!

The file system is broken. desktop now doesnt exsist

What if you just recreate the Desktop folder inside your home folder. After this you should be back to empty desktop and you can maybe recreate the shortcut inside the new Desktop folder?

Otherwise you can select which folder is shown on the desktop by right clicking on the desktop, selecting Configure Desktop and Wallpaper, and on the left selecting Location category. Then on the right side you can customize what folder is shown.

yes actually i did find where to configure that. But my real question why it changed in the first place. But yes i switch the folder that the desktop shows.

However home/deck/Desktop still doesn't exist. Its that box icon with the little line at the bottom. The one you click on the hotbar to show your desktop. But it also appears in the home files and when you click it it just said it doesnt exist so not sure whats that about

Also getting. Could not enter Folder esp. Not sure whats that about either could have sworn i was able to access that before

idk what u did since ur not explaining enogh, also not a linux expert or user, but something similiar happend after the jsaux dock semi fubarred my deck, r u talking about hooking up to a dock and it going pea sized and bunching together after hooking up to a 4k display? dont know a solution since deck seems to output what the display u hook up too so higher than 720 can mess up a deck somewhat displaying since theres no basic non linux user fix atm

Im honestly not sure what triggered this other than switching from game mode to desktop mode.

I havent got the dock yet so I have not had that particular issue Lala. Thanks for the heads up as I am planning to get a dock. (not sure which one yet)

My issue had to do with desktop mode and it not loading from the right directory.
