SD on unsecure Wi-Fi, safe?
Ehrm I always use vpn when I am connecting to hotel, public wi-fi.
Is it safe to connect SD to hotel's wi-fi in Turkey? Can someone hack my Steam account through SD? Thanks

You are using a network which is not yours. So the basic question is: do you trust this network? I have a rather large mobile subscription so I would rather set-up my smartphone as a hot spot and use this network.

No, I dont trust hotel's network. My mobile plan is solid but Turkey is outside UK and how to set up mobile as access point? Can I install VPN on deck? Will it work?

You need openvpn for that. Turkey? Hm. Don't have experience with that country. Same question applies. Offline mode is an option too I guess?

If you're just playing games one it, there isn't much anyone can do.

Even if they intercept the signal, they will only be getting information of when your updating the system or just your connection to Steam's/the game's server.

Just don't make any purchases through the Deck if you're that afraid.

Don't need a VPN. Don't need paranoia either. What you need, is encryption and Valve use transport encryption on Steam (which is standard for web stuff nowadays), meaning your Steam account is safe on public networks.

Steam Deck is a Linux PC. Assume an open network is a hostile network and that there are unpatched and undisclosed vulnerabilities in Steam OS and act accordingly. Steam defaults to opening ports for things like remote play, and those are usually secured from the internet by your router. Use a VPN or your mobile connection. Don't trust open WiFi.

SteamOS is an immutable os.... the linux kernel has a massive firewall built in. There is nothing there to hack, no one cares about your silly computer games.

i care....i will steal your minecraft save file and replace it with a blank world just to watch you suffer and ball up into a corner and cry.

I cry often without minecraft... what I should of said was...

The Turkish government has every reason to crack into the code of the steam deck.

The steam deck has a plasma cutter and a unique I/O port that is encrypted to get into the underground of the New York stock exchange... The Steam Deck has all the maps to the mines in rural areas of the world as well AND the security codes to those.

The Turkish Cracker police are after you, I suggest you leave the country if you ever want to see your Steam deck play Hollow Knight ever again.

What about signed debit/credit cards? team Wallet funds, all tradable cards (I have around 500, it must be worth 30-40 pounds). Games are not silly, you sound like my dad.
