Report a translation problem
As for the emulators, try retrodeck or emudeck, they set up everything for you. All you have to do is copy rom and bios files to specific places.
Retrodeck is standalone while Emudeck is more about tying your roms into your steam library,
I installed nestopia to test it out and it wouldn't recognize my dpad inputs either, so there's prolly something wrong with the emulator. You might have luck if you add it as a nonsteam game and then do the configuration in game mode since steam input is a bit finicky in desktop mode.
Edit: But yeah, totally RMA for the dead pixel. You paid good money and that's not up to par.
