Nothing but frustration; controls not recognized
I installed Nestopia UE from Discover on my SteamDeck. The d-pad worked the first time I used it and failed to function after that. I can set the inputs in the configuration and it appears to accept the buttons and the d-pad as valid inputs, but load up a game and half the buttons and the d-pad completely fail to do anything. I calibrated the sticks, the d-pad, L, R and triggers, and that utility finds them just fine. But still the emulator now refuses to work with them correctly.

I just want this SteamDeck to work. Every step has been a big PITA. Games mostly run like crap, regardless of what I change. (i know i need more time with it, but still, very bad first impressions here) The controls are finicky as hell; these touch pads are way too sensitive or something. The one time I got the emulator working there was noticeable controller lag too. And I have a bright/dead pixel.

Anyone get these controls working in desktop mode? I figure since my Steam game library doesn't have much that wants to play nice with the SteamDeck I'd try emulation. I want to like this but so far it's not looking great. :VGRUMPY:

You can RMA for the dead pixel, you lose the deck for a couple weeks but at least that pixel will be gone.

As for the emulators, try retrodeck or emudeck, they set up everything for you. All you have to do is copy rom and bios files to specific places.

Retrodeck is standalone while Emudeck is more about tying your roms into your steam library,

I installed nestopia to test it out and it wouldn't recognize my dpad inputs either, so there's prolly something wrong with the emulator. You might have luck if you add it as a nonsteam game and then do the configuration in game mode since steam input is a bit finicky in desktop mode.

Also, if you are on the Beta branch move to the Stable version, some people seem to be having performance issues in the beta right now.

Edit: But yeah, totally RMA for the dead pixel. You paid good money and that's not up to par.
