Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Any good way to stream the Steam Deck to PC (for easier file management)?
Hi guys, I wanna mod the Steam Deck a lot but I don't have a proper bluetooth keyboard and mouse to really fiddle around with the whole thing. I was thinking of trying to stream the Steam Deck through remote play on the PC, but I don't think there's a Remote Play option on PC like there is on the phone; where you can just connect to the device itself. I tried connecting to Steam Deck's Google Chrome as a workaround, but I just get a black screen. Does anybody have any suggestions?

You can use the on screen keyboard and also use the trackpad

I know. I've been kind of trying to avoid that. It's extremely slow to work with.

Steam Remote Play should work from the Deck to a PC just fine.

I also want to use my PC keyboard and mouse on the Deck easily, so I installed the app called 'barrier' as a client on the Deck through the Discover app. Also installed barrier as a server on the PC.

I couldn't get Steam Remote Play to work, but maybe I'll try barrier, thanks!

Remote Play is to stream a game/input from another system. You seem to be asking about doing this for the Desktop mode to use your PC's input devices to control the Steam Deck on its Desktop mode. Remote Play specifically doesn't stream the Desktop (on any device).

It actually does if you do it from your phone and connect to Steam. It makes the thing go in big picture but you can alt tab or minimize it.

It looks like Barrier doesn't work. I have the "Barrier is starting" error and all of the fixes are bunk for some reason.

So, I'm having another problem. It looks like I'm just not able to get Steam Remote Play to work in general. I'm able to detect my other PC but Steam Deck is just not able to stream to or from the other computer. It can launch the games, but it'll fail to connect. I have all the necessary ports forwarded, is there anything I'm missing?

For streaming the desktop you could try AnyDesk or Remmina, which are available in the Discover store. I haven't tried any of them, so I don't know if they actually work, but maybe these could help you.

You could also try Teamviewer (which is probably more popular and better known to most people). Unfortunately, you'll have to manually install it, and judging by the comments[aur.archlinux.org] it may not work.

It looks like I'm having some actual connection troubles between the Steam Deck and my computers, but I'll try that, thank you
I would recommend using Remmina and access the deck in desktop mode remotely with another VNC app such as UltraVNC. If you want to access the Deck outside of your local network you will have to open the port on your router.

I am trying to use Steam remote play to stream games from my steam deck to my friends laptop, since it's not that good at running games, however I keep encountering momentary freezes that occur around every 30 second and can last for up to 10 seconds. For me the games keep running as usual but on their end they can't control anything and have a frozen screen. Does anybody have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hey, this is funny because this is literally what I'm trying to do.

Red Dead Online crashes after 15-20 seconds every single time.

Did you ever find a solution?
