Deck in Case warning.
Guys maks sure not to carry your Deck in the case when it is on and game is paused.
So I was testing Hades and decided to go to bed but I wanted to have little more Deck time in bed.
I paused game and put it inside a case. I took it upstairs and left it in a case.
I brushed my teeth and came back to bed, (5 minutes). I lifted Deck from the case and it was mega hot. Rb and Lt buttons were close to melting and the whole unit was hotter than ever before. Fan was doing overtime and it was quite scary tbh so listen DO NOT PAUSE GAMES AND INSERT DECK TO A CARRYING CASE. IT IS NOT HEALTHY FOR YOUR DECK.

I agree they should also add a don't use under water and don't charge with potatoes lables too!
Hey! GladOS worked on a potato, why can't my deck do it to??

There's no logical reason to object to any renewable energy source. To do so suggests a questionable bias at best 🤔
It would take about 80 or more decent size potatoes to power a deck and I have no idea how long for. I applaud anyone using renewable energy so I would surgest a poratble power bank and a solar panel for this. A solar pannel would be so much cheaper in the long run and way more portable.

I think I paid around £30 uk pounds for a 60w foldable solar panel about a year ago and fully intend on testing it on my deck :)
So many big brains here. There are thermal limits, and also you'd hope there is some type of closed loop thermal throttling. This is on most of the devices we use daily like phones, tablets, etc. I'm sure valve considered this. Next we'll see "Don't play your SD in the Sun" and then someone will say you dummy don't you know you can't use electronics in the sun.

Valve doesn't have to include a warning label because the device is engineered to not damage itself. Go leave your phone in a hot car and see if it turns on or if seems as fast as it usually is.

maybe about a month ago Valve actually released a statement telling people not to play their deck when its super hot outside, as some people were playing their decks in the hot ass sun and getting a overheat message.

Should be common sense lol. No disrespect. I also don't recommend putting into sleep mode before inserting it into the case. If sleep mode works the way I think it does, you still have power going to the RAM. Electricity = heat. So it's best to just turn it completely off if you plan on enclosing it into the case. Again that's if sleep mode works the way I think it does. Hibernate != sleep for other OS's like windows. Hibernation stores the current state on a storage device instead of temporarily.

While I agree with turning off the device prior to placing it inside a case, it is still suitable to place the SD into sleep mode and put it in a case. There is no real heat buildup when the device is in sleep mode, much like a smartphone on standby in your pocket. The handheld community often stick their Nintendo Switches into cases while in sleep mode and the Switch also requires active cooling when turned on. Sleep mode into a case is fine however I personally wouldn’t risk it because I would be too paranoid about the device turning on again while inside the case.
Please save your Deck from overheating. Let it breathe, let it enjoy today's freshness. Obviously Valve dont want to include warning labels so be weary.

They shouldn't need to.
Never read such a nonsense. Of curse it will get hot if you cover the fan or close the case. Here are some other Warnings....

"Deck under Water Warning!"
Massive problems with Waterslides in Waterparks while playing too!

Dont let your Deck fall in Lava Warning. If cooled down it will be a lot havier on one Side.

Download this app and stand on your Deck, will not tell your weight Warning! My is broken now.
But can I use the Steam Deck in the bath? I can't see any warning against it.

lol ofcourse not, it has open vents so water that enters vents will shorten it and even fry things inside it because water and electricity does not go well.

If you take a cold bath it might count as water cooling!

You should avoid bathing with your Deck. Water would damage it. There was post on redit of one user killings its Deck like this. Do NoT Do This !

🤯 There should be a warning! 😱

🤣

Mind you, modern phones are often "waterproof" so I guess I can see how a redirect user could make such a mistake.
