Report a translation problem
As of 10am this morning(Monday) my tracking has been updated to it being delivered 8/16 at 2:05pm. I am livid! I have called Fedex all day trying to understand how this is happening, how communication has been so poor, and how I have yet to be called back yet.
The only information I was given was that they understand the package was scanned onto the truck on 8/16 from a manifest, but the package never actually made it on the truck, riiiiiiiiight. I asked for a timeline or any type of validation that something is getting done here and of course they just told me to wait to be called. GREAT, thanks. Anyways, I bought the deck to have a good time, but it's been a nightmare. About to just dispute the charge through my credit card and take the L on the year long reservation I made on this for absolutely nothing.
FedEx claims the shipping label was "unreadable" after receipt of the item in Chicago yesterday. Today, my tracking information was wiped from FedEx's web site. I called FedEx and they sais it might be still in the system. I got nothing so far.
I had to open a ticket with Valve. Been waiting 8 months and now this...

Also, they are saying that Valve is not allowing them to hold at location. I think their lying about that also. Have support ticket to Valve to see if they are, no answer yet. Also haven't heard that you have to sign for it, but the driver supposedly tried to deliver today, before was suppose to (had it arrange from FedEx Rep to deliver after 4pm) and took it back, didn't leave it.
I'm so fed up with FedEx. From now on unless I can get something to go to Amazon Locker or Work, not having anything delivered to my house anymore. I don't care if the package is delayed, but stop lying that you tried to deliver or can't hold at location, or deliver after a certain time,... Their whole Package Manager is a farce, and UPS MyChoice is just as bad if not worse.
Update: Got FedEx to deliver after 4pm, but couple hours later they say tried to at 10:41am (my camera caught nothing), they lied about delivery attempt and after 4pm.. Finally got them to call the depot and take it off the truck. Picked up the next day at the depot. Feel so relieved it is OUT of THEIR hands. Still never got an answer from support if Valve is saying can't hold for pickup. They just said they reached out to the shipper. Luckily after several days of testing, won't have to RMA either. What a relief to not have to deal with FedEx.
Not sure if you were talking to me or just in general cause I'm not getting a replacement and working so no RMA (yet). But YES, agree, if any of you people can, have it shipped to work, seriously. FYI, mine did come in a plain box.
My advice is shipping your replacement Steam Deck to an office if you can. those tend to make it home more reliably as the Kleptos at FedEx tend to not touch business orders.
pretty much, hard to blame them when you see how little FedEx gives them, even in Massachusetts.
