There is, but not through Steam itself (that I'm aware of). You'll want to look into remote desktop solutions.

Remote Play allows you to remote into your PC, yes. I'm not sure if it works in game mode (haven't tried) but it does work in desktop mode by minimizing the game.

I play a modded version of of a steam game on pc & I've streamed that same game to my deck with no issues. It did let me control that game using steam deck, but I don't know if it will do the same for any games without steam controller profiles.

thats a different thing, and should be possible.

i think you need to check how to "wake on lan". if your desktop pc uses windows or linux, you need to check how to activate the option, and then keep it connected with a ethernet cable to have a more reliable connection.

Remote Play / Big Picture mode isn't supposed to allow you to the OS, but it sometimes happens. I'm not sure if there is a specific way to make it happen on purpose.

You might find something here: https://www.lifewire.com/free-remote-access-software-tools-2625161

you can actually use "remote play" to do other things since it is different to "big picture mode".

you can to use your browser and other stuff outside steam. its simple: when you call your pc from a steam app for streaming, you only need to exit bpm, or "alt tab" away from it and then you will see your desktop. you are unable to close bbpm if you launched a game, but if you havent, you can actually ignore it, and start a game without it while streaming.

i guess most people havent tried this, because they only want to launch their games directly.

I've posted a topic very similar in question with a few differences very close to this topic being created.

What @R+5 says is true, I've been tinkering around to get local music + Twitch & picarto web apps streaming from my desktop to Steam Deck & after several things failing & not being able to fix through troubleshooting I've managed to find out remote play is literally just streaming the whole desktop only focused on whatever game you start it with.

From the topic 'Non-steam app remote play'

LoL Stream perfectly, showing non-steam apps CAN stream from desktop to Deck fine. Then there's one more thing that's a major workaround for everything:

If I close the League client, the Lutris window opens automatically. The streaming doesn't stop until Lutris is closed. What I can do is drag the cursor off the Lutris window & I have full access to my desktop entirely to do anything at all: open RhythmBox, watch my Picarto & Twitch web apps... open the terminal & do anything in there? Sure can!

This is good, this is a workaround allowing me to listen to music on my deck from desktop storage, or watch a twitch stream in bed & be able to shutdown my desktop without getting up to walk back to my desk in another room (since even the panel with the button for menu is accessible for shutdown commands)

I wonder if it's possible to add a non-steam app to your desktop that exists solely to easily click out of with your deck to get easy full access to your desktop (including the ability to shut it down with the panel menu).

Haven't tried it yet but shouldn't it be possible to map a steam deck button to the combination action of alt+tab or super key with something as simple as adding & launching a text editor to your dekstop PC's nonsteam game list to stream to your deck? A text editor is light enough to do this with compared to using a full game to stream only to alt-tab out of it for full desktop access streamed on the deck.

Hi!! So this actually works, only issue is soon as you click desk top, the mouse just stops working!? Have you used this !? I’ve enabled the deck controls in compatibility but didn’t make a difference !!?
