Yea sorry guys for not being specific. I mean the analogue sticks. You know like how Kontrol Freak makes these for console controllers. KontrolFreek Call of Duty: Vanguard Performance Thumbsticks for Playstation 4 (PS4) and Playstation 5 (PS5) | 2 High-Rise, Hybrid| Red/Black https://a.co/d/fwCzSzv
You can find covers for the thumb sticks that aid in gripping. I haven't seen anyone document which ones work and which ones mess up the haptic touch system in the Deck, but yes there are some out there that will work.
Wait, there is some sort of Haptic Touch for the thumb sticks? Not the touch pads? Is that why it’s so smooth and has no grip? I never felt anything on the sticks.
That's how the gyro functions work. If you never plan to use it, there there is no concern with what you put on them.
Also, there was a video done on YT of someone showing two different decks. One from the first batch that went out, and one from a recent Q3 batch. The person noted there were differences with the thumb sticks. I'm saying that as I don't have a problem with mine, but I may have different thumbsticks than you or they just work for my fingers.
A friend of mine has a first batch deck. His thumbsticks were slick and collected dirt. He had some cheapo covers for his PS4 that he put on them. He said they barely fit, but they did what he needed and they didn't interfere with the gyro function (or so he said, I didn't personally witness it).
Yes, that is why it's smooth. There is a capacitive touch sensor. Here is a video showing gyro being activated by touching the joystick.
