Stylus for anti-glare screen?
I absolutely love my Steam Deck, But the small trackpad isn't the greatest for mouse-only games. And the screen isn't the best if I have to use my fingers

So I'm looking for a stylus to use with my steam deck in games like, for example, Loop Hero or Civilization.

The anti-glare screen, though, concerns me. I bought a capacitive active pen and the sounds don't give me a lot of confidence. It sounds scratchy, which is why I don't wanna use it.

Do you have any recommendation for the expensive screen that I can use without running the danger of scratching it?

You could by one of those cheep rubber styluses from Walmart or dollar tree.

I seriously doubt a plastic stylus would ever scratch glass. It might leave marks from the glass wearing away the plastic like sandpaper, a damp cloth should wipe them away.

With those cheap stylus, be careful where the nib meets the stylus. If using them with more than 10 or so degrees off perpendicular, the stylus housing can rub up again the glass to mar or scratch it. Those things have messed up my kid's samsung tablets before. I've learned to hate those darn things. (and the ones hiding a writing pen inside are worse.)

Weirdly I've found the trackpads amazing for mouse only games. That being said I do make sure to go in and tweak the settings to my liking.
I usually reduce the mouse sensitivity and turn the pointer friction setting to low so I can flick the mouse around. Works really well for me personally.

Yeah, I forgot about those issues. 😅

I kind of gave up on the anti-glare feature because of it's vulnerability to scratching. I just put a screen protector on it. Fingers and stylus are detected well through it, and you can always remove it.

To me, conventional mounted displays are good candidates for anti-glare because they aren't really exposed to much abrasion and tend to be fixed in place so glare can be an issue. With portable displays potential for abrasion is much higher, you can adjust your viewing angle simply by moving your hands, and in cases where the glare is so bad that you cant find a good angle, anti-glare usually doesn't help.

I know this doesn't answer your original question but I'm just making the case. My deck arrived a day before the screen protector and I still managed to get a light scratch that fast. ...and I use it mostly docked.

I have one of those. Doesn't say steam deck certified lol, but looks the same. Those DO NOT glide well. They can glide, sure, but they leave a mark and it's not smooth. Maybe I just need one of those Official Steam Deck ones. :lunar2019laughingpig:
