FedEx Stole My Steam Deck
Finally received my package after almost a week of delays during shipment. The box had clearly been opened and resealed with the power adapter and the steam deck missing. Weirdly the case was still there. I collected the package a minute after it had been dropped off (propped up against the garage door within plain view from the street - what lazy incompetent driver would do this?). So the theft clearly happened while in transit.

Now the fun of submitting a support ticket and hoping the replacement isn't stolen as well. FedEx is the worst. Stop doing business with them Steam!

its pretty stupid of valve to ship these in a box that clearly states whats inside of it. they should also brick the system when they are reported stolen but you know they wont do that either.

I'm sorry that happen to you. FedEx delivered mine to my neighbor two houses down. This is the second time in a month they've delivered something to the wrong address. Lucky for me she's and honest person and called me to let me know something was dropped off on her doorstep.

I live in Chino Hills in Southern California in U.S.A.

I agree that Steam should do a better job of not advertising on the package what's inside. What really has me concerned is will this happen again if I get it redelivered? There is obviously a thief somewhere in the FedEx chain, so what's to stop them from doing this again?

I certainly hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. Was a real bummer after waiting so long (and who knows how much longer to go?)

No signature was required?

Nope, no signature required. Although I don't know if that would have helped, as I did get the package, there was just no steam deck inside. The package did seem rather light, but not sure if I would have figured it out until I opened it.

I'm also starting to wonder if the driver left it against my garage door, which is very visible from the street, in the hope that someone would steal the package, and thus throw off the scent of who had really stolen it. It's either that, or the driver was lazy/incompetent in placing it in the worst place imaginable. Regardless, I would never voluntarily use or recommend FedEx after this experience.

Major bummer... I hope Valve makes it up to you. They should be able to make an insurance claim, as it is their responsibility to ensure the package is delivered to you safe and sound.

Yes and he must be the most busy FedEx employee on the planet, by far.
He manages to make Decks disappear in a lotta countries at the same time.

Mine was dropped at my door in plain sight, too.
Could have also said that I never got it.
Just sayin.

Update: I got a response from Steam and they will be sending me a replacement. Will still have to wait a while before it arrives, but kudos to Steam for making me whole. I hope Steam gets money back from FedEx through insurance or something. FedEx's shoddy delivery and poor oversight of packages in transit is inexcusable. Steam shouldn't have to eat the costs of FedEx incompetence.

Glad you're getting a replacement. From what I've heard from other people in the same situation, it takes about 2 weeks.

FedEx is just horrible in general. I honestly do not see why -any- company sticks with them. Last two FedEx packages I was supposed to get never showed up at all.

honestly steam is to blame too tho as they advertise whats in the box and people will steal whats popular regardless of shipping company, im glad your getting it replaced tho

Mine assumedly got stolen too, made it clear across the country before it got stuck in transit from Stockton for 6 days, and FedEx just tells me they will call back with more information every time I call. They never call either when they say they are going too, horrible customer service. I can't tell if the problem if FedEx or just FedEx in my area. Annoys me to the core someone can just get it for free and I still got to pay the same with another wait on top of the already super long wait. I guess whats another month on top of a year wait after spending 700+ dollars after tax. 😅
