Saint's Row (2022) running?

Hey guys

Did anyone manage to get Saints Row (2022) running?

I have the Epic Games Launcher running just fine thanks to Lutris, played a couple of EGS games in the past, but Saints Row just refuses to run :(
I get the launcher starting, asking me if i want DirectX 12 or DirectX 11 (doesnt show the Vulcan option for some reason, as it does on my pc), I choose one, it stays for a bit "thinking", and then it just closes :(
Tried running the latest Proton (7.04), Experimental, and ProtonGE7-30, aaand still nothing :(


Anyone got any suggestions, please?

2 things. 1) From what I've heard, Steam Deck + Windows = a (near) bricked console. 2) This attempt at a reboot for the Saints compared to previous entrees is a technological step backwards with stupid AI and the interactivity of Grass during a hurricane. The game may have simply said "Guess I'll die" and just opted to stop working for you.

There's a workaround here, but it requires using a hex editor to modify the EXE file. It seems to only work for DX11.

I came here asking for questions about how to make the game run. YOU focused on the wokeness part, which, coincidentally, seems to be a thing most complain about, in how it feels too forced, just like in Last Of Us 2.
The game seems to put too much emphasis on it. I have nothing against the idea of people of whatever colors and sexual preferences/orientations in games or whatnot, but i DO have a problem when they seem to be pushed as the main thing. One thing is for a character to be gay, another is for it to have to mention that particular thing in any and all conversations, like that's the only personality trait they have.

Similarly, I find it horrendously lame that the script implied 4 roommates started a criminal empire because they couldnt pay rent, had student debt and couldnt get their dream job. But they're masterminds enough to make a criminal gang, huh?
We dont need any and all characters to be relateable, sometimes we just want a good damned story, irrelevant of sexual orientations, colors or whatever else. SR used to be about being as absurd as possible and NOT being politically correct, all in the name of stupid, unadulterated fun. Now it feels like it's tip-toeing, and suffering for it. (I'm 40% through the game, according to my save file, so i did get to experience quite a bit of it)
Just as I'm not fond that my male character still has certain female manneurisms just because the developers reheheheaaally wanted us to play as female, but added a few male options just to avoid backlash.

Also, I question if you even have played the originals or the new one. This new game is so much like Saints Row 2 that a lot of the criticism seems to be that it's almost too retro. I've played seberal hours and seen no real political messages at all. Are you really that sensetive that even a hint of anything less than Birth of a Nation gets you all riled up?

As a black man, I found nothing "woke" about this game, at least not in the true meaning of the word that my people created and your people stole.

Just FYI - the 'your a racist nazi!' attack holds no water anymore. It's been overused so much that it's not even an insult anymore. come up with something new already! it's boring!

The problem with the whole 'diversity quota' crowd, is they inject politics into things on purpose to get in their token colors and 8 billion genders, and because they get offended at practically everything, and because they are so busy filling quota's - they can't write an interesting story to save their lives.

And there's the whole 'omg my gender!' crowd, which are so epicly stupid that they get offended if any character is even remotely sexually attractive. So all women have to look like boring pointless lumps and wear baggy clothing.
(oh but they can still objectify men all they want and laugh about it, so much for their vaunted 'equality' eh?)

And all that blends together to make games into a bland boring mess that can't properly explore a good plot or story, or even have interesting characters - because they are so afraid they are going to 'offend' someone.

And if anyone complains that their media and storylines are being ruined, then the 'your just afraid of diversity!' crowd jumps in and bogs down the entire thing.

All that junk is ruining gaming, movies, and pretty much all entertainment these days. When it's all just a pile of boring bunk - we don't need that junk injected into gaming. Gaming was just fine before all the 'omg it's gotta have diversity!' crowd came along and started wrecking everything for the sake of their petty politics.

Anyway - I digress -
Just look at what they did to the Saints Row crew -
In the previous version of the game, we had Pornstars who were sisters (and dressed the part), a kickass fonzie character called Gat who you take over from, a muscleman who is stacked like The Rock, and you go save the world from invading aliens for crying out loud.

Instead in this new game, we get well.. here's a pic that sums it up nicely.

Can you honestly see this new game inspiring well... anything?
I can't.

And to top it off, on release the new game according to pretty much every reviewer out there - is a boring buggy soulless lump, filled with unmemorable tiresome buggy missions, and boring characters that are not even 1/8th as interesting as the original Saints Row crew, and somehow the devs thought this was a good idea?!
(and to put a tiny cherry on the cake, they even got rid of the dildo-bat because the devs were afraid of offending someone!)

Did the devs forget what made Saints Row a franchise?!! - the game has lost pretty much everything that made it interesting, from characters to story, even items and missions have been toned down to cater to the stupid modern politics!

The story of the new Saints Row is a bunch of developers who are now afraid of taking risks, or using characters or story-lines that are too sexy or cool in practically any way! THIS is what has ruined the new game. Stupid politics and mediocrity. - being a buggy mess on release I can almost forgive, because everyone is doing that these days.... But the rest of it too? no. Just no.

The old saints row crew should bust in and wipe the floor with these useless new-age posers.

apparently that trick only works for the cracked/pirated version of the game. Doesn't work if you actually bought it off EpicGamesLauncher :(

Yes it's literally a PC, you can do whatever you want on it just like any PC, go to Power > Switch to Desktop Mode.
