You may be granted a grace period if you open a support ticket explaining the situation

Real question is, how can somebody NOT notice an info about Steam Deck?

You get 1 email notification on your PC, 1 on your phone and on your Steam you get a pop-up window that is impossible to miss. Additionaly on Steam you will see a very hard to miss yellow/orange bar on top-right corner with the text "You have an account alert".

I got mine yesterday and I could not miss it even if I wanted to.
So how did you miss it?
Unless you were under a rock with absolute no service for those 3 days.

When did it get cancelled? Brohands McSmooth is correct. Contact Steam.

Absolutely, Brohands McSmooth and Megaman are right. If you reach out to customer support, they're being pretty cool about it. A friend of mine never even got his actual offer email and just got the follow-up one saying he'd missed his chance. I told him to reach out to customer support and 10 days later, he had his Steam Deck.

Personally, I received my email when I was playing, so I didn't got a pop-up for the it, my Steam app notifications never work and the client version of Steam didn't show the alert until I eventually restarted it much later. I was lucky and only noticed because a friend who reserved at the same time as me got his email and told me, so I checked.

When mine expired I suddenly had an extra $5 in my steam wallet, which I just re-applied to my next reservation. I do wonder how long I can keep doing that(Valve currently allows this) before I can finally afford to buy it(the 512GB one).

Interesting.
I got my mail while playing games too and my mailing program notified me right away on PC and my phone.
After about 60min while watching YouTube, my Steam pop-up showed automatically.

For last half of year I was very busy and my work requires me to use company mac laptop where I cannot install not approved software. I've checked personal email from time to time, but unfortunately was not able to do so for couple weeks and my email got crowded. The last day of cconfirmation was my sons birthday.

Also, some time before shipping date changed from July to September so I expected confirmation to also be in September.

They literally called my cell, not text, called. I thought it was a scammer calling me. They were ever so nice about it. I bought it for my husband. He doesn't even know it's coming.
"No no this is just a friendly reminder that you need to act within 72 hours or lose your place in line. Just log into steam and complete your purchase at your earliest convenience"
So how do people miss the window?

Once I saw that I got moved up from After Q3 to Q3, I just checked my email every day to make sure I didn't miss it. I guess some people just have their priorities mixed up. They're thinking about silly things like work and family, and all I've had on my mind for the past few weeks is my Steam Deck.

She arrived yesterday, and now she's here in the bed next to me. Totally worth forgetting my kids.

Same thing happened to me, the email went in my spam, but I emailed support telling them it went in my spam and I missed it. They resent the order offer again and I was able to purchase it
