does anyone know how to install this? some of the resident evil games require this for the cut scenes to work, otherwise they wont play. ive tried installing it with protron tricks and it gives me an error stating it needs a 32bit version and im running a 64bit so it wont install it.

Strange. Everyone on protondb seem to fix it by running Proton GE.

For specific games that use the Unreal Engine, they need GE because of the libraries used to play videos from the games. At the moment, it will just show the video test screen so Proton doesn't crash.

Dang. I remember doing “proton tricks” on my laptop and it solved the issue. You can download proton tricks in the discover store correct? The correct codes should be at protonDB.

alright yall so i fixed it and the games cut scenes work using protron-ge and the main issue was im apparently retarded and cant read properly and it says "exit steam before applying changes" and once i did that the game works lmao

Have you tried installing VLC player via Desktop Mode and making sure that every video format plays with it? Also, can you specify an RE game with this issue?

this issue isn't actually related to video players. it's solved within the compatibility layers.

just install protonGE instead of messing with WMP
