But from what i've heard, most people have fairly good experiences.
My problem is, I entirely lack control over the router I use for the internet. As I live in a building with many other people and do not personally have access to the routers. So I just sort of have to make-do.
That's why I said on my desktop downloads are super fast. I have 1gb Fios. It's like faster sometimes than transferring files on a hard drive. Steam software itself handles downloads beautifully. So it has to be the deck itself. Thing is so frustrating. Nothing that's supposed to work, works....then I try a game that's not supposed to work, SFV(unsupported) and it works 100 percent perfectly....
Terminal!? After every update? lol. WTH , why can't this thing just work. The Switch may have trash software, and slow downloads, but the thing works at least.
actually i'l just throw this in.
If its a Samsung Evo then just use this thread. Fix is on post #11.

I don't know why. XD Something is wrong on the software side. Just saying if you wanna try it. A future update might fix it.
It’s this card. It’s an old one I had for the switch. SanDisk 256GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card with Adapter - 100MB/s, C10, U1, Full HD, A1, Micro SD Card - SDSQUAR-256G-GN6MA https://a.co/d/2JoVQJz
I have the 512 deck but that thing fills so fast. I want to wait for a good price on a 1tb card. Any recommendations?
Ah an old switch card that helps things, here's a thread slightly more useful. It talks about formatting an old switch card but maybe the deck format did not work right for you when putting it in the deck.

Desktop is hardwired but still my WiFi is fine. Speeds are still really high. When I download anything with my laptop or iphone it's still super fast. Only the Switch is slow because we know their software sucks.
I think it's the format issue. I remember when I brought it over to the deck it gave me errors formatting, but then all the sudden started working but didn't have the full 256 gigs available. So it must have not formatted properly. What a hassle that will be but I guess once I get this fixed i will be able to easily download games. I think this may also explain some performance issues I've had. I posted on that thread but it looks like no one really found a fix to this...How much did you pay for the 1tb card? They are like 200 bucks everywhere I see.
Is it also very slow if you're installing the game to the internal SSD or just slow when trying to install to your microSD card?
You can download and install a game to your internal SSD and then easily move it to the microSD card to avoid the poor performance of decompressing on the microSD card directly.
SteamOS 3.4 should in theory allow for higher performance on A2 cards as it is moving to a newer kernel which should support host caching and command queueing so that is another thing to keep an eye on once that is released to see if it might be worth while to get a new A2 microSD card.
Mmm errors and performance issues.. yeah its possible now. I saw that you have commented in that thread so id just wait and see what others think. Hopefully you get a quick answer.
I'm glad you asked actually. Iv'e just logged in amazon and its 47% off in the UK right now. It might be the same where you are if you are shopping around for another. I paid £167 in the summer sales and its £114 now for reference.
The Sandisk 1tb A2 is 200 dollars and they have one left in the US. Would PNY be that bad? PNY 1TB PRO Elite Class 10 U3 V30 microSDXC Flash Memory Card - 100MB/s, Class 10, U3, V30, A2, 4K UHD, Full HD, UHS-I, micro SD https://a.co/d/hnmVWIZ
SanDisk Ultra 1TB microSDXC Memory Card + SD Adapter with A1 App Performance Up to 120 MB/s, Class 10, U1 is the one im using. Ive been playing dirt rally, doom, god of war on it with no issues SD card-wise.

PNY hmm no idea, they seem to be okay for the SD from a quick net search. It depends what you will be running and if a faster write speed is important to you.
Oh the Sandisk is 20mbs faster...Is it really that big of a difference? Idk if it's true or not but I read that even with the 512 NVME, which I have, it's not that big of a difference btwn the SD cards. Which we know NVME usually have insane read write speeds
