Steam Deck - Password Security Suggestions - Web Browser prevention
Dear Valve,

Thank you for the security passcode options in the security settings of the steam deck. I would love to see some additional options for security passcodes to prevent "internet browsing" to protect my kid. Would love there to be more options that allowed the steam deck to be custom locked to only play installed games and nothing else (password protected). Currently I love the options that you currently present in the password security field, specifically the passcode lock for "desktop mode" which is amazing in preventing access to internet browsing. However you can still download chrome from the steam os side of things. I found and extention in chrome called "chrome lock" that allows for the app to be password protected within itself. This works well for now. I will say however, it would be great if the steam deck offered native features that password locked any general internet browsing apps such as chrome, microsoft edge, bing, firefox, safari etc. On top of that here are some additional password security option suggestions

Can we have a unique steam deck/ steam os password prompt option (toggle on or off) when
- you install any new game, app or program in steam os (password would be different from steam accout password).
-when you attempt to launch a game with a certain ESRB rating
-or when you attempt to launch a specific game or games of your choosing, regardless of the ESRB rating
-when you attempt to launch a known web browsing application
-when you attempt to "factory reset" the device in steam os

Thanks : )

well, you can not prevent someone from browsing in internet if that person can use your deck for playing. valve can not do anything about that, but maybe you could:
you would need to figure out a method to block domains in your network.

the features of each browser are independent from valve, and their passwords only work to keep your data locked, but that wont prevent someone from using another browser or figuring out another way to surf.

imo, rather than trying to prevent "your kid" from using internet, you should focus in talking with him or her about risks of surfing carelessly, and allow him or her to think and learn by him or herself.

also imo the role of every parent on earth should be that of a guardian, asistant and advisor, not of a tyrant that tries to manipulate and force their daughters and sons to become extensions of their egos (imo, thats what bad and terrible parents do). imo is better to earn loyalty rather than fear and distrust (which can also destroy your partnership with your wife or husband, and curse the rest of your family with toxic relations).
