Steam Deck

Possibly the quickest Deck stolen by Fedex to date.
My deck shipped today. Picked up from Valve at 415 east lies rd, carol stream, IL. With a delivery date of 7/12/2022. Got a FedEx email saying it was delivered which isn't possible since i live 2 states away. It was delivered a few miles down the road of valve. 191 East North Ave, Carol Stream, IL. Thanks Fedex. I already fought with them this month to get them to refund a cnc mill they destroyed. Fedex is the worst possible shipping company ever.

That sucks, sorry that's happened to you, I'd be furious, I always get let down by delivery companies too, never had anything stolen though, so what happens now? What you gonna do? will Steam send another or refund you? I'd like to know as it would alleviate any doubts I have about my own delivery when it's available.

Nah, UPS is worse by a long shot; but FedEx has really been trying to give them a run for their money as of late.

Good luck with your Steam Deck, hopefully you are able to get it resolved.

You may have just been given the wrong tracking info
krunkymonkey Jul 11, 2022 @ 9:09pm
Fedex tracking number is correct. It shows valves address as the pick up location and my address as the delivery location. But the email saying it was delivered to a different address in the same town as valves. Actually right down the street from them. How can fedexs system let a package be marked as delivered in the wrong state, town and address. I opened a ticket with steam but they haven’t responded.

My guess is the driver really wanted it but couldn’t park in front of my house since it has to go the the depot in Ohio. So he accidentally delivered it to the other location which gets a lot of packages. It’s like a electronic repair depot. So the dude at the depot signed for everything including my deck but it’s left on the truck. Fedex driver gets a free deck with no recourse since the dude at the depot signed for it.

i'm trying to wrap my head around how and why it would get scanned as delivered at somewhere other than the delivery address if the plan was to steal it.

i once had a UPS driver steal a phone i was having delivered... but he pulled up in front of my house, scanned it as delivered inside the truck, then drove off. the dude never even exited the vehicle. but he pulled up in front of my house so that the delivery scan satisfied the GPS location data to show that he was actually at the delivery address.

in your case im not sure why there would be any delivery scan at all and whoever took it wouldn't just take it and the last tracking data you'd have is simply that it was picked up by FedEx then nothing after that. So who the hell knows? but to me i think this feels like some kind of mistake has happened. either it was scanned as delivered by mistake and is still on the way or some other weird mistake like wrong tracking given as darren suggests. im sure you're already in contact with Valve about this though and have a new one on the way... i'm hoping 2 Decks end up being delivered to you. :B1:

The origin address makes sense as that is the warehouse for Ingram micro which is who Valve is using for importing to the US.

It should have been scanned for pickup from there
It should then have had a scan at FedEx Ground, 205 Della Ct, Carol Stream, IL which is the FedEx distribution center for ground and FedEx Home Delivery shipments
Then it should have scanned to the a truck going to their distribution center in your state, not a truck for local delivery....

Definitely shouldn't have been delivered to an appliance parts supplier... :steamfacepalm:

Besides opening a support ticket with Valve did you also call FedEx?

Yes called fedex. Which is a waste of time. The lady said they are going to see what happened and call me back but never do. It took a lawyer to get involved to get them to cut a check for a cnc mill they destroyed by not strapping it down the the back of the truck. The best part is I received the check yesterday. The same day my deck went missing.

Makes me ULTRA paranoid I've had multiple packages being stolen not sure if it's the neighbors or the damn delivery drivers but DAMN it annoys the ♥♥♥♥ out of me. Especially since I spent 700$ on the damn thing I swear to GOD if it gets stolen I'll personally hunt down the responsible party and SUE them for everything they have.

easiest solution is to buy a security camera and place it right at your door so it captures all deliveries. they are cheap now and can be purchased for 35.00 on amazon

I live in Oklahoma. FedEx showed my Steam Deck was picked up by them on the 28th, in Carol Stream, IL and then immediately sent to Mesquite, NV and from there it went back across the country to Northampton, PA. And the kicker is they said it'd deliver on Wednesday the 31st at first, then changed it and said it's arriving early on the 30th!! I was excited to get it a day earlier than predicted... now it's the 2nd and they haven't updated it since. So I have no idea where it is or what the hell is going on! Steam support wasn't helpful AT ALL... just told me to wait 8 business days for it to arrive and send them another message if it doesn't. Incredibly disappointed.

415 EAST LIES ROAD
CAROL STREAM, IL US 60188

That address IS NOT VALVE! It's a shipping/logistics company named Ingram Micro. Just reading reviews about them makes it all the more understandable why my Steam Deck shipment was messed up from the get go!

Welcome to my post 2 months ago. Not sure what reviews you're reading because they largely don't deal with b2c.

Where I live, FedEx is worse than UPS, they will chuck expensive packages onto my porch from halfway across the yard, often a day or two after they were scheduled to be delivered. On the contrary, UPS has a pretty great track record around here. They are more reliable than both USPS and FedEx for getting me packages undamaged and on time.
