Bought a 512 GB SanDisk (Ultra, I think, not Extreme) and it works just fine. Have not experienced any differences between installing on SSD or microSD.

512gb, got it. Thanks. Are these dear?
I got a 512 SDXC (eXtended Capacity), and I plan on mainly using it to store roms and emulators and other non-steam installed games so that my Deck's internal storage is only used for SteamOS and Steam games

Would this be any good? I dont like idea of spending 100 on micro sd card.

Wow, these are really cheap! Not sure about the quality though, you might want to do to some googling. I paid roughly 60-70 EUR for my SanDisk, it was recommended on reddit and I trusted that.

cheap sd cards from unknown brands are usually fakes that use custom firmware that does not give the actual capacity. stay away from those and buy from a well known brand like Sandisk or Samsung.
Amazon Prime days are this week. You can likely pick up something good with a little bit of a discount. I bought a 512GB Sandisk Extreme a while back while they were on sale on Amazon.
as far as where to install games there's little speed difference between running game from SD or internal. If you put in the sd before installing games though it will default to there for game installs. You can of course move them between the 2 drives fairly easy. Installs do seem to take a little longer downloading straight to sd versus the internal drive. FYI

Probably outside my price range but sounds epic.
I would look for SD cards that are rated for A2 as they have better random read/write performance which will matter more for games.

I'm always wary of SD cards that are *too* cheap.

There are many "fake" SD cards on the market that advertise more space than they actually offer, which can lead to very annoying bugs that are hard to figure out when you're assuming you have as much space as the card is saying it has. This has been a pretty big issue in the Nintendo Switch community.

Either way, best of luck and enjoy your deck

From what ive seen the main difference is the install/download speed and the speed of moving games between sd and ssd.

So is faster install/download/moving games worth it to you - then buy a faster sd-card.

Also - one of the biggest mistakes i made was buying a 512 GB card - if you have a lot of games and dont want to uninstall/install them all the time buy a big card - especially since you will have shader-cache updates and game updates in the future. Swapping cards also isnt that great - many suggest to turn off your steamdeck every time you do it and i think that there are some issues with shader-cache downloads.
