early threads on the Steam Deck discussions forum mentioned an USB reset procedure... I suspect this would be enough to fix USB-C monitor out and audio-over-HDMI issues faster
Can you enter your password and then try this command on the console:
steamos-session-select gamescope
and see if launches?
People are saying that he MOBO is bad but if it were I don't think it could get this far. Like you've booted linux from the NVME if you took out the re-imaging media after the restart.
Did you try re-imaging it again?
From this experience, this is what i have found:
1.) When the SD is low on battery, it'd start lagging. (FPS drops from 50s to less than 10 on "Lost Judgment")
2.) At this stage, even if you put it to sleep and start charging, it would still lags.
3.) Force a shutdown and wouldnt start up, stuck at SD logo or black screen (lit up)
4.) Restoration image works fine (only reinstall SteamOS), but when boot up, stuck at SD logo for long time, force shutdown and restart brings the "steamdeck login:" command prompt.
5.) Nothing else works from this point on until I put the SD in "Battery Storage Mode". Plug in the power outlet and all works fine.
I suspect I didn't even need to reinstall SteamOS, just put it in Battery Storage Mode and should did the magic.
Anyway, problem solved, thanks to this post and not the customer service.
Hope this helps anyone who's having the same issue.
It starts up, asks for language time zone etc, but no matter what internet I connect to, it gets to like 20% and stays there for 14+ hours. I check my internet connection and often times it's either kilobytes or zero while downloading. I have 8mbs internet and literally nothing.
Any help? I just want to play with my steam deck :(
can you try a cabled connection via usb ethernet dongle/dock to your router? that would ensure you circumvented this issue if that's the case, at least so you can reach the main UI

Also works for me too! I was about RMA tomorrow
