Hello.
The Game always starts in english even though the Steam Deck language is German.

Any Help?

same problem here.
there is no language option in game preferences.
installed on pc -> everything is german
installed on steam deck -> everything is english

I realise that I'm dealing with stereotypes and I apologise in advance for any offence... but in reading this, my brain, which has a habit of random excursions, starts to cycle through the german archetypes and stereotypes that pop culture has infused me with:

- Angry German (Hitler w/ monocle) --- Really dark. But Nope.
- Scientific German (Van Braun, Einstein) --- Amusing, but nope: not Batman.
- Beer Hall German (Lederhosen) --- More appropriate to John's loonytoons version of Scorpius (from Farscape)). No lederhosen for Batman.
- Sousaphone German (Oompa band) --- also lederhosen. Nope.
- Schnitzel truck German (comes from Hoodwinked) --- could work.
- German tourist (thong bathing suit) --- could work.

Much amusement.

Just to be fair, a Canadian Batman is also difficult. Stoic RCMP type, maybe? Or hockey fight Bruiser, maybe?

Is your PC OS language set to German?

-language=deu -languageforcook=deu in the start options in desktop mode seems to launch it in german. It was not fullscreen though, maybe a simple change with the in-game options would fix that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Late edit after checking other reports: it seems to crash if set to fullscreen mode. Needs a fix.

Nope.
Our Batman is fat and watches soccer on TV. His special forces are knowing everything better than every football player, the trainer and the referee. Also he would be a much better politican than every of them in Germany exist.


the solution for me was in
folder (desktop mode):
...\Batman Arkham City GOTY\BmGame\Config

in file:
Launcher.ini

i changed the line 107 and following like this:

default=Int
en=Int >> en=Deu
fr=Fra
it=Ita
de=Deu >> de=Int
es=Esn
es-MX=Esm
pl=Pol
ru=Rus
pt=Por

it works.
(default=Deu instead didnt work for me)

i also tried other solutions from the internet in other files and commands in the start options but nothing of them worked

does it also work in game mode or only in desktop mode?

Well uhh thats the thing. Ive just noticed that SS was in fullscreen, eerrr ..something ive done has made it fullscreen. I have no idea what..but i did originally start it in desktop mode. Wierd

The reason for me using desktop mode to boot it initially was due to getting a black screen with audio in the background in gaming mode. It would stay black screened even after the game had got to the menu.

Okay hah i found the fix to get it from desktop to fullscreen (from desktop mode)...open and close the keyboard in game. its as simple as that. Worked for me with the german language start option as well, all VO and text are in german.

This was the only way for me to launch it in German on my Steam Deck.
