Steam Deck

40 FPS gone docked :(
Well
I lost the ability to lock the FPS on any given game to 40 FPS while connected to my 720 monitor.
This happened on the latest update where now you can manually changed the resolution of your external screen
I now only have the option for 30 FPS
I know this has to do with the refresh rate, but my monitor allowed for 40hz
And the list of available resolutions only show 60hz.
40hz + 40 FPS gave a very comfortable experience while playing demanding games
I rather have a locked 40 as opposed to the frame bouncing all over.
Is there any way to force the deck back to 40hz output, so I can then choose 40 FPS?

Most monitors (and TV's) do not support 40Hz. You are seeing what your monitor can support.

Enable changing the external display refresh rate in Developer menu in settings, then set the res to 60h and while in game change the refresh rate from (...) menu.

Hit the "Steam" key on the deck
Go to Settings
Scroll once and select "system"
Under "system" find "Enable developer mode" and enable the slider

Second part of the steps ...

Press "b" on the deck to go once back
And you are back to the main Settings sectrion
Go down all the way until you find "Developer"
Select Developer, and find "Allow external disaplay control"
And enabel that setting
