Steam Deck
Docking station is overpriced.

Serious question: why do you need USB-C ports? I personally don't even own a USB-C to USB-C cable. What would be the benefit of one? Mind you, all data already goes through the dock to deck build in cable and the remaining ports will handle pretty much everything else.

All I can think of is the fact it can be inserted in any way. USB 3.1 standard however is supported on both connectors so its not like you're losing anything else.

Tons of devices are now USB-C too.

compared to the jsaux upgraded dock, it comes with a spare charging brick for the unit. its not that bad compared to that.

(will also power down the usbs so reduce the strain on the steam deck battery and has a spare DP port)
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

what do you find funny about that? you get a spare charging brick, theres a DP port, and USB 3.1 ports on the dock compared to the jsaux "upgraded" one.

either way it would be the basically the same cost if i went for either dock (minus the cost of the spare brick)

I have usb c devices such as flash drives, yubikeys, and my lcd.. so even though mouse and keyboard is usbA i still have a need for usb c.

so i use a hub that has everything i could need + a few usbc so i can use one for charging.
and the hub was cheaper than this dock
Which specific dock are you using? I need one with USB C input, this cavemanware is ridiculous.
Ugh. I knew they would price gouge us on this thing. It should be like $20. Its an accessory... there is no graphics card in this thing. No expensive memory. No Central Processing Unit. Its a bunch of ports bundled together so you can prevent having wires all over the place.

I'm not going to buy this right now. I doubt it will ever go down in price, but maybe it will. For now, I guess I'm just not going to be using my deck much. I really wish they wouldn't have been so greedy about this dock, I mean, they basically print money with the steam store, its wholly unnecessary.

I have this weird thing with my steam deck, this sort of 'its too good to use' problem. I don't have that issue with my Switch. Its weird. I really like my deck, and this dock would help alleviate that problem, but I'm not paying nearly 1/4th the price of the COMPUTER for the dock. Imagine buying an $89 keyboard or mouse.....

...yeah... someone just read that with their hands on an expensive keyboard/mouse. Oh well. I guess we all find inventive ways to waste our money. To each their own or whatever.

And yes, I know about 3rd party docks. I do not trust them.

Be happy u got the SD at a very generous price point, with the Dock its still cheaper than most other portable pc devices
i got a blackweb 6 in 1 usb c hub that seems to do the trick from walmart for 33$
no LAN port on it but itll do . it charges my SD, has sd and micro sd slots for storage, hdmi, and couple usb ports. i was so so lucky bc it was the LAst one in my area
59.99$ sounds fair enough or even 49.99$

I have many that I use and change out to review and such but this is the current one I'm using that offers alot more for less but obviously there is others very similar and smaller if you don't need everything
https://amzn.eu/d/a52djtU

So with this one I do this ... as the display is USBC as well and this works better:
Steam deck > LCD > Hub < devices
........... Power > ^

Sometimes I also use something like this
https://amzn.eu/d/amsb0rR
If I just need mouse and keyboard then this is small enough and does the job.

Both are cheap compared to steams dock.

And I just laser cut myself a dock to sit it on.

Some of the ones from https://seloreglobal.com/collections/all look great, unfortunately none ship to Canada.
I'll buy one and I'll thank the CSGO community for paying for it just like they paid for my 512GB Steam Deck after buying my cases for silly prices. :spazwinky:

It’s probably around £20 too expensive for my liking. I don’t even have a monitor anyway as I use gaming laptops so I would have to purchase one of those also, haha. Oh well, I am happy to keeping the SD as a handheld device as it’s still an awesome piece of kit.

The average price of a good dock/hub that can do what the official dock can't do is around $60-$80. Those don't even come with another charger or extra USB-C cable.

This dock is actually a fairly good deal for what it is.
The JSaux one works fine. No need to get the Valve one.
