Tons of devices are now USB-C too.
what do you find funny about that? you get a spare charging brick, theres a DP port, and USB 3.1 ports on the dock compared to the jsaux "upgraded" one.
either way it would be the basically the same cost if i went for either dock (minus the cost of the spare brick)
I'm not going to buy this right now. I doubt it will ever go down in price, but maybe it will. For now, I guess I'm just not going to be using my deck much. I really wish they wouldn't have been so greedy about this dock, I mean, they basically print money with the steam store, its wholly unnecessary.
I have this weird thing with my steam deck, this sort of 'its too good to use' problem. I don't have that issue with my Switch. Its weird. I really like my deck, and this dock would help alleviate that problem, but I'm not paying nearly 1/4th the price of the COMPUTER for the dock. Imagine buying an $89 keyboard or mouse.....
...yeah... someone just read that with their hands on an expensive keyboard/mouse. Oh well. I guess we all find inventive ways to waste our money. To each their own or whatever.
And yes, I know about 3rd party docks. I do not trust them.
no LAN port on it but itll do . it charges my SD, has sd and micro sd slots for storage, hdmi, and couple usb ports. i was so so lucky bc it was the LAst one in my area

So with this one I do this ... as the display is USBC as well and this works better:
Steam deck > LCD > Hub < devices
........... Power > ^
Sometimes I also use something like this

If I just need mouse and keyboard then this is small enough and does the job.
Both are cheap compared to steams dock.
And I just laser cut myself a dock to sit it on.
The average price of a good dock/hub that can do what the official dock can't do is around $60-$80. Those don't even come with another charger or extra USB-C cable.
This dock is actually a fairly good deal for what it is.
