Steam Deck Software update stuck at Applying 87%
Today I have just tried to update Steam deck to the latest stable version. The update has stopped at 87% for hours. I have read some guides and attempted to reboot the Steam Deck (by holding the power button for 10 seconds), turn off then on the wifi, enter sleep mode and wake up, boot to desktop mode to update other software first, etc but none of them can help me pass the Applying 87% update from Steam OS. Does anyone know any different approaches to help me update my steam deck to the latest stable version?

It would be easier if you linked this https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/1B71-EDF2-EB6D-2BB3 direct link to it instead of a long article.

Hey, I actually just had this happen. I had just gotten done playing Days Gone and saw a software update available, so I hit "Apply". Shortly after, I got a "Steam Cloud Error" and toyed around with that a bit, noticed my home Wifi took a dump and began restarting all my networking stuff. My update was stuck at 27% for about 10 minutes until the Steam Deck got back on the Network. Everything was going well until it hit 87% and just stalled. 20-30 minutes went by with nothing, then randomly my Steam Deck restarted but the update wasn't applied.

That's the 5th time in 2 days I've had a random restart and now I'm getting concerned.

I finally can update my Steam deck. My approach:

- Unplug any USB type C dock/hub, only use the original power supply of the Steam deck
- Hold the power button for 10 seconds to do a reset
- Use 2 GHz Wifi instead of 5GHz
- Go to system and update my steam deck

I hope it could help

I actually just had the happen. But when I restarted my steam deck and checked for updates it said it was up to date
For anyone that has this happen (as it just did to me), turn off sleep mode while plugged into charger and only update while plugged in. My deck went to sleep while updating and hung after coming out of sleep.

Just happened here too. 87%
After 20 min I said f it. I held power until it turned off and continued to hold until I heard a beep. I let it power back up. Went to desktop, did all my updates from discovery store. Back to game mode, tried the update again and it powered right through in like 4 minutes. All up to date.

Side note. I'm all the way across my house in a spare bedroom with poor wifi (wife is sick in other bedroom). I lost my wifi 1/4 of the way. Brought my deck to the living room to reestablish. I wonder after reading these comments if that's what did it and why it got stuck. I connected to my extender on 2.4 for strong bars and went back into the spare bedroom. Never lost wifi and updated no issue.

To my surprise Decky Loader and all plug ins are still there.

I've been having this issue the entire time I've had my deck. I've tried 5ghz, 2.4ghz, wired connection via the dock, and phone Hotspot on 5g. Restarted the steam deck about. A million times, and restarted the modem. Nothing has worked so far. Been really frustrating.
