Text Size on Steam Deck
Generally speaking, I'm OK reading Steam Deck/Store text etc using my reading glasses but impossible to focus on such small text without them (it's my age)
Yesterday, I bought Divinity Original Sin (going for a measly £10:49 - you seeing this Nintendo?) and I find reading the text incredibly difficult.
Icons are tiny & it's pretty difficult to chew through the game that's pretty much text-based & icon heavy in it's design, so has anyone found a way to beef up the font/icon sizes in games like this?
I need to conduct a quick check to see if this is actually possible to do in the game settings but I'm pretty sure it isn't.

I could use the Decks magnifying glass option but that could just be a total pain in the ass to do on top of the other billion radial menus I'll have to navigate etc, so not sure on this one.

How is everyone else getting on with this out of interest?

I am blind in 1 eye with an artificial lense in the other rom health complications. I have to use the readers you can get @ drugstores & amazon to read most small text. Depending on how small, it's usually just a matter of magnification factor of the lense I am using for clearer text. Otherwise i see everthing else on screen just fine w/o them.

This is going to be a teething problems with the Deck and older/existing titles. Existing games were typically developed with 1080p being the target screen size as that usually leads the various hardware surveys. That makes some games a bit hard to read on the Deck.

I do believe if the Deck continues to be successful, we'll start seeing future titles have some options to make their Deck experience better.

Was this on a Deck Verified game, or on one that was just Playable? The most common issue I have seen so far on Playable titles is small text size.

Yes, this is a Deck verified game, which does surprise me because, unless you have 20/20 vision or glasses that equal the JWST in magnification & clarity, it's a tough game to get through.

Obviously, it's perfectly glorious on my 65" OLED but not such a great experience on my Steam Deck.
Nothing to do with the hardware, per say, it's just as previously mentioned, older games that are heavily text based, are going to struggle.

Not even older games. I remember playing a couple console ports from the current & last generation where I had to move my as closer to the TV to read in-game text without challenging my eyes. I don't need glasses, mind you. It's just that even console game developers chose small fonts.

in steam store divinity original sin has the "unsupported" mark. might be the reason why. i find that even without my glasses on i can read most text fine on steam deck apart from the ones that are unsupported/playable with the note that texts are too small.

the games i did buy out of the steam store i always checked the store before bothering with it and so far experience when it comes to readability has been ok.

The Deck has a couple settings for text on screen size scaling. Have you tried adjusting the game with that? I myself have not tried to change a game scaling, so not sure if that will work.
