Random false touchscreen inputs?
Just got my steam deck yesterday, happy af!

One issue: it reads random inputs from touchscreen now and then.

When I clean the screen the issue *seems* to disappear but I am not really sure.
I play for half and hour and then bam - camera shakes as if someone had touched the screen (primarily on the left side).

Very annoying. Is it a hardware issue?

Likely. Software causes would occur more often.

I have encountered the same problem, there are false touchscreen inputs on the left-up side of the screen. I'm sure that mine is a hardware issue, cause no matter on SteamOS or Windows, the problem never disappear. I could only disable touchscreen inputs from BIOS as a temporary expedient.

iirc users had this issue frequently in the past, and it helped some of them to reset the Deck's usb controller or something like it... or putting it in factory storage mode then re-activating it... there are old threads about this you can look up to confirm what worked for them

Thanks for your advice, atfer one day that I have disabled the touch screen from BIOS, I reset my BIOS settings, and the problem was solved.

2024 July edit: The problem occurred again, and was never truly solved.

Well there's only one place to RMA it to and thus no matter how hard might as well bite the bullet and get it started.

I know this is an old thread, but I was having this problem on Elden Ring….. which isn’t forgiving of random inputs sometimes.

Situation: randomly attacking or flipping the camera. Thought I was accidentally touching a button at first.

Diagnosis: Ran through button tests through Steam button on Deck, saw no stray button presses even while letting the Deck sit and just watching it to see if it did errant inputs.

Solution: (for me) https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/comments/uizhzr/disable_touch_screen_for_a_game/

Don’t know if Steam allows links. Essentially: press Steam button, controller settings tab and controller settings at bottom center of screen, edit layout on middle right of screen, action sets on bottom left tab, cog wheel on right border of “default”, add always on command, click as command, scroll to system tab on top right and select “touchscreen off”.

Doesn’t fix it out of game, but helps in game.
