Itch.io Setup help
Hey folks,

I'm trying to get Itch.io working on my Steam Deck and I keep running into issues. So far, after some bumps, I got "itch-setup" onto my deck, but every time I launch it I get an error.

It freezes on the "Warming up..." screen and eventually I get the error:

"Warm-up error: while opening remote signature file: htfs.Open (initial request): in conn.Connect, exhausted retry context: in conn.tryConnect, while doing GET request: Get "https://w3........" the error goes on from there, off the screen so I can't capture it. It seems like it's just a long web address.

Anyone else run into this problem? Any advice on how to overcome it?

I believe you can install the windows version of itch launcher using Lutris

https://lutris.net/games/itchio/

The linux version was hit-and-miss for me.

The best thing I found is to just download you games from the web browser and use the install method for exes.

You are getting errors mostlikely because itch.io app/program tries to write/edit system files that are read only.

What’s the install method? I’m trying to unzip the files but it’s not letting me unzip on the deck

PeaZip from the Discover app should be able to unzip all sorts of formats
