Steam Deck

Steam Deck

Should I buy skin or no?
I bought a case off of Amazon and on my old deck (which got stolen) it wouldn’t fit inside the case that the steam deck comes with. I’m thinking about buying vinyl skin instead to wrap around the body. Dbrand’s prices are a little too high for my liking, are there any brands you recommend? Or if you know of a case that fits the deck body and easily fits into the deck case that it comes with, let me know.

This one will still fit in the base case:

I purchased this cover and it’s been excellent. Fits inside the stock case, no problem.

When installing, you have to stretch it a bit. Stretch the more substantial parts of the skin over the deck and you won’t have any problems.

I was looking at that one too! I just worry about installation as you mentioned haha (stretching it a bit). Because if I stretch too far well rip. I was looking at a similar one also in pink. I love silicone. However I do worry about vents being covered or the deck getting hot with cases like that even though I like them.

Yep, I've been using it since June and love it. I didn't want a silicone one as they usually attract dirt and lint. This one is TPU which is basically like a rubbery plastic. It doesn't collect lint and feels pliable (i.e. not rock hard) in my hands. Makes the Deck feel more solid in my hands as well with the added grip textures.

I would be concerned about heat dissipation. Otherwise that cover looks amazing.

It doesn't cover the fan or the intake. Yes, it will prevent the plastic itself from radiating more heat out but I have yet to have any heat issues with my Deck.

I would rather have custom shells but the Deck is so tedious to take apart, we will probably only see custom backplates.

Or only services for full shell replacement.

I have an Owltree case with a stand on the back, won’t know how it fits for a while yet though lol

Doubtful though that anything with a stand on it back will still fit in the original case.

The reviews seem to indicate it does fit in the carry case, albeit a little tighter.

When I installed this skin it was pretty obvious which parts not to stretch too hard (around crosskey, sticks, buttons) and avoiding those it goes on easy. Plus no issues with ports, vents, or heat retention. I like it!
