Steam Deck losing Power When turned off?
So recently the following happened. I charged my Steam deck to 100%, pressed on "Shut Down" and left it unattended for about a week. Once i touched it again, it had about 60%.
Yesterday i charged it to 100%, now it is at 97%, despite being shut down. Anyone else had that experience ?
Is mine broken or is that a safety mechanism ?

sleep mode or a full shut down?

batteries will discharge over time. sleep mode is a very low power mode in which will still consume power to upkeep the state you had before it went into sleep mode.

not sure what 100% shutting down would consume in power over time but it would be way less then putting it into sleep mode.

Full shut down. I usually do that, when not using it. I know that they lose charge, but i expected less than 3 percent in not even 12 hours

Battery charge is measured in volts (percentage is calculated relative to the maximum value that was calibrated for each battery); but the chemistry of batteries is influenced by temperature and a few other things, so after charging is completed, some times the value might move away from 100% after a little while (but in general never above 100% since that's adjusted to whatever is the biggest voltage it reads).

I've seen something similar with drone batteries in the other end of range; after reaching the lowest safe value and landing, after the battery cools down it seems to recover a bit of charge, but if you try to power on again, the battery quickly heats up with use and goes bellow the safe range.

My deck can lose up to 8% battery over 24hrs. Never really saw that as an issue. My phone will lose about the same if left unused all day.

If you want Steam Deck not to drain battery when shut down you need to put the battery in storage mode from UEFI.

Ive had the same thing happen, we need to Keep Reporting this to Valve. For mow ive heard turning off "Quick Boot" and then also using Battery Storage Mode for when you're not going to use it for a long time steps for both below.

--Disable "Quick Boot" in BIOS--
Press and hold the Power and Volume Up buttons until a beep sounds, then select Setup Utility. Next, go to Boot and select Disabled for Quick Boot, then exit saving changes.

--Battery Storage Mode --
Hold down the Volume + button while pressing the Power button
Continue holding the Volume + button until you hear the system chime
Release and wait
Use the D-Pad and A to select
Navigate to Setup Utility
Navigate to the Power Menu
Choose Battery storage mode, and confirm
