steam deck charging very slow, 5-6 watts maximum

Hey you all, I can`t seem to charge above 5-6 watts, even with the proprietary wall charger. I have tried other chargers, same issue. I can successfully charge via usb 2.0, but it takes 16h. has anyone else encountered this issue?

If you are not using the wall plug that comes with your steam deck, pretty much every other charger you might hook up will charge very slowly, especially if you are gaming while charging with any alternative charger.

For the faster charging speeds, use the wall charger that comes with your steam deck =)

Having the same issue with the wall charger included with the steam deck, sometimes not charging at all.

Have you tried a different plug at home? If your steam deck doesn't charge properly with its own charger and the issue is not on your side, you might want to contact support.

hmmm... Sounds like there could be some sort of an issue there, definitely file a ticket with Steam Support.

In the meantime, the only thing I can think of is trying to restore your steam deck to it's original factory state. There should be an option for that under the settings option reached by pressing the 'Steam' button on the deck. If that doesn't work, hopefully support has a better solution for you =/

... plus volume down till u hear a beep the steam deck shortcuts will come up then go away with the beep. This reset something had

ended up getting another charging unit, funnily enough plugged into a steam deck stand (3rd party) it decided to charge at the normal rated 40 watts, even with the "bad" charger. so maybe something more software than hardware? Hard to tell, chargers work at 40 watts for phones just fine.
