"If your Steam Deck appears to be charging normally but the power button is unresponsive, you can try holding the Volume + button while powering it on, then selecting Continue to boot from the BIOS options."
i was wondering how to boot it like that the other day. thanks.
I used the official provided PSU and the light stays solid white while plugged in. I believe the unit is receiving power because I can feel some heat at the exhaust port when I attempt to turn the unit on by holding down the power button for 10 seconds to turn off the unit and I hold the button down again until the LED goes from a dim brightness to a brighter brightness. The LED will almost immediately go dim again and nothing is happening with the screen. I can not go to the boot menu or BIOs either using the '+' and '-' button while pressing the power. I have tried this with and without my SD card in the unit. I have not opened my steam deck since receiving last week to try and repair it or do any physical modifications. I have not installed any 3rd party software either. It is all official steamOS software and preherpials. I have also tried different wall outlets and different non Official PSUs but the results are all the same.
I let the unit charge all night and it is still having this behavior this morning. The LED will remain solid but there is nothing happening with the display when attempting to turn the unit on in both normal mode, boot mode or the Bios. This happened after filling up the main hard drive to probably 90% capacity to download a game for a few hours with the screen on and plugged in.
If I unplug the unit the LED will go off. I try to turn on the unit, the LED will immediately turn on but a second or two later will immediately turn off.
I totally agree, if fully discharging the battery doesn’t work contact Support. They’ll either have more tips to fix it or start the RMA process.
