Steam Deck

Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII [ PCSX2 ]
I am attempting to play Dirge of Cerberus: Final Fantasy VII on my Steam Deck using PCSX2 in tandem with a Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, and I cannot get the right analog stick to function as camera control.

PCSX2 does not seem to recognize my attempts to map controls within the program itself. clicking in to map a button results in nothing when the button is pressed on the controller. The controller works flawlessly everywhere else, and can even be used within pcsx2 to exit the program.

I've also tried using the Steam Deck's mappable controls within itself, but none of the options for the right analog stick seem to function as a camera control as the right analogue stick should function.

Any ideas why this is, or what I'm missing?

*Edit - I forgot to say that every other button and the left analogue work as expected.

if this doesnt work with the deck controller, maybe it still works with a playstation or xbox controller connected to the deck, or a switch controller like the one you are trying to use.

Maybe you should remove references to a game when asking about how to do stuff with emulators, because some moderators have little tolerance about the topic in relation to how they interpret steam rules (for some mentioning them equals to promoting illegal activity, and others are more objective and less hostile).

maybe the issue is that steam doesnt "comunicate well" with the program, so the controller isnt recognize properly. im not sure if this could help or if it could work with the deck, but it allows to change (steam) controller settings without having to run the steam client.

search the appimage version; after downloading it, you need to "activate it". to do that, just right click the file and in properties click in "run as executable". you can "integrate it" so you can create a shortcut to launch it with a shortcut.

https://github.com/kozec/sc-controller/releases

it was made for steam controller (and other "non-steam controllers"), but has been discontinued and afaik there are no forks of the project.

Maybe you should let the moderators speak for themselves if they have a problem with something ;)

Now that that pointless exchange of meaningless words is over, let's move on.

Interesting. I'll explore that link, but the controller does work with all other games I've tested within PCSX2 so I'm not entirely convinced this is going to accomplish much. I appreciate the link though.

Okay, I'll check that out as well, thanks again.

If anyone has a more direct, or simpler solution I'm missing, some checkbox, or setting I'm neglecting, please feel free to contribute further.

I'd run the emulator thru steam so the input gets setup by Steam itself

Use EmuDeck and use the pcsx Controller mapping which comes with it

This was what I had tried first.
