Source mods
One of the things I was excited to play on my Deck was Sourcemods

I quickly found that sourcemods via the sourcemods folder does not work at all, it may be something they will add at a later date

So far I can however seem to run 2013 upcomming mods from microSD just fine but using an alt method

1 switch to desktop mode
2 install Source SDK Base 2013 Singleplayer (to your MicroSD)
3 set Compatibility to Custom (it should set Proton Experimental by default)
4 set version to upcomming
5 copy your mod folder directly into the Source SDK Base 2013 folder (look under /run/media/ for your MicroSD)
6 add non steam game, using the hl2.exe file from the Source SDK Base 2013 folder
7 jump into Properties
8 Rename this to the title of the mod, change the icon if you want also
8 LAUNCH OPTIONS -game NameOfModFolder
9 Close that screen
10 Return to Game Mode
11 Launch mod from Game Mode and enjoy them

Please note that Source SDK 2013 will remove itself from the installed apps in Steam in desktop mode and Game mode... also note Game Mode will only show games in the library though will show non game apps in the Home menu this includes Source SDK Base installed to the internal storage, but selecting SDK 2013 will end up being a Install request, this does not stop the mods running however

I tried this with Source SDK Base 2007 but it will not work with above method, but if you are desperate you can run this from internal adding -game nameofmodfolder with the mod folder inside the Source SDK Base 2007 folder, you will also want to create a shortcut on the desktop to this edit it with KWrite and change the type to game save that exit and add that as a non steam game

Source SDK Base 2006 and other Source based games I have not got round to trying on my SteamDeck yet

If anyone has a better or easier method please share

... I may have a better idea for this that includes a full path so the mods can be in any location I have a few more tests to do but have just tested this with SDK 2007 and this simply worked, I would strongly recomend a keyboard/mouse for the setup of this atleast

all i did to make my source mods work is go to desktop mode and all the source sdks in tools set them to use compatibility proton experimental. then just copied my source mods to the sourcemods folder like normal and all worked fine

Yo I'm trying to do this with well left 4 deads process and seems like I'm getting no where 😞. If yall got any guides or tips for the steamdeck in order to add sourcemods that'd be greatly appreciated
I was trying to get the OG Stanley Parable mod working and found this. Gonna add how I got mine working:
-install the mod normally
-go into its properties in Steam
-launch options "-game Z://{mod directory}"
I think the issue was simply that Proton couldn't find the folder because it has to go through its Z drive instead of the root directory.
