Terrible gyro aiming on deck
I have used gyro aiming with the steam controller and it was incredibly close to mouse and keyboard experience. But after trying it on steam deck it's like I'm trying to play a computer game for the first time. I expected some getting used to having the screen built into the controller but I never thought it would be that bad. Especially since steam deck has a very similar layout. But No matter how much I tweak the settings something is always wrong and my muscle memory from the steam controller is constantly subverted. Anyone having similar experience?

I’ve never been able to get use to gyro aiming both on my steam controller, and on my switch lite. It’s a little easier on a controller - but on a screen device the physical movement of the screen I find distracting.

Dont think gyro is going to be good using it as the sole movement input.
Because the screen is built in, this makes playing alot different than when using the other steam controller
and tweaking sensitivity to match liking has to be experimented with.
However using gyro for small tweaking movements is great

I use gyro in tandem with the right trackpad which does most of the aiming. The thing is, I just noticed that pressing down the trigger increases the gyro sensitivity like three times the normal value. I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be doing that.
Every time I press the trigger I move the deck a bit and the gyro catches that motion and throws off my aiming. I don't remember having such an issue with the controller.

There something like Flick Stick which is kind of nice and supported by Steam but you still need to get used it.

Okay I think I finally figured it out: I changed the gyro mode from roll to yaw and now it actually feels a lot more like using the steam controller. Tested with quake. My muscle memory finally kicked in. and also it seems that the strange bug with gyro sensitivity might just be one early acces game's fault. What a relief

How do you switch the gyro mode? My gyro hardly works right. I tilt the Deck and it kinda jitters but it’s not always active.

Honestly I feel the same way I have a great time using gyro controls with my Nintendo switch So I kind of expected it to be the similar on deck. I was dead wrong. Gyro on steam deck is absolutely TRASH. A LITERAL DUMPSTER FIRE. It's the worst gyro I've ever seen in my life. I seriously cannot understate how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ horrible it is. How the hell am I supposed to aim when its jumping all over the damn place from the slightest movement. Other times it will just pull downward the entire time despite my best efforts to redirect it. My steam deck is brand new. There's no excuse for this. It's beyond frustrating I feel like I'm getting an incomplete experience and there's nothing I can do about it. With Nintendo switch being a fraction of the price this is absurd. I know it's apples and oranges and that the steam deck comes with a completely different set of features, a larger library and many things at the switch doesn't but it should at least have gyro controls that are at least on par with other handheld gaming machines that are less than a third of the price. Even my PS4 controller has better gyro aiming. I'm sure that many of you will see I'm doing something wrong or that I just haven't tried using it the right way or some other crap but I'm not clueless I adjusted settings I tried different things I didn't just immediately start complaining after the first try. I love my steam deck. I want it to work. And I'm rooting for the steam deck. But I can't pretend that the gyro controls aren't a dumpster fire

This video gives a good overview of setting up gyro.
