Steam Deck

Steam Deck

No games I play work yet xD
Fall Guys, Destiny 2, and Halo Infinite would be all I would play on PC. im pretty selective with my games outside of Nintendo games. Im working on getting a Windows boot going rn, cuz i cannot use Steam OS as of rn until there is more support.

Any reccomendations to something you think I might play on steam deck? Im obviously very into online games. Just spare the Fortnite this time.

For Destiny and Halo, it requires an anticheat that their developers refused to enable. You can't get around it unless their devs decided to enable it for Proton.

couldnt proton make a way to emulate battleeye and launch it with the game?

Nope. Battleeye has proton support, Valve, if I recall correctly, worked with those devs to support it. Developers have to enable support, and Destiny's developers have stated that they do not want to enable it. There was few posts on Bungie's forums.

Basically, Bungie has to enable it, but refuse to do it.

btw bad guys may run in the deck with a small hack, but since its owned by epic, imo it may not be smart to have it right now:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebN9u21B_AA

if you really want to know which games are running or likely to run in the deck, its easy to just search in youtube, the official list, or protondb

if you own more than a handful of games in steam, its almost impossible that one wont run well.

i guess its the implimentation of battleye on linux and maybe their own anticheat software. i dont blame them. hopefully we can find an alternative one day or make linux battleye as good as windows battleye for them, and the use of all that software stuff lol

the style of the title is a typical way to attract attention. its fair when searching opinions.

claiming you are very selective, but not caring enough to check first if the games you wanted to play in the deck were compatible is "sus" (ie trying to start a drama thread for fun).

to be selective is a good thing, but sticking with only one or two games, and having many free to play in your account (i checked your profile to understand a bit better), imo, makes me think you may not be someone who buys games frequently, or likes to use steam much, which means you can not be "selective" (at least not here).

its nothing bad to use steam to play only one or few games, even free to play; but that can better be called "restricted" rather than "selective", because you could actually get a few games that run without issues or hacks easily, and that you like, but you chose not to and keep playing the same ones.

i chose those games because i liked them. I've bought every expansion for destiny 2 since launch. i came to steam after warmind from xbox. I've never played pc much before then.

I buy almost every major nintendo switch game. i play what I like and I havent been attracted to buy other games because I know i wont play them.

I wouldnt say I "restrict" myself because I dont like other games. If i knew I'd like a game and play it a lot, I'd buy it. Im just fairly a noob pc gamer, i use controller. I've played console for many years, thats why Im so selective.

Im not into many single player games, except for the ones i played as a kid pokemon and zelda. my favorite game is smash bros, and I liked halo growing up. I'm pretty sure I select my games without restriction, I can get whatever game I want, im not poor. Destiny wasnt always free to play, and I never was for me anyway. I buy the deluxe every expansion so I get all the seasons included.

What about installing Windows on the Deck? The drivers are all there. You won't get gamescope nor the Deck Steam client (yet) but the desktop client is enough to get games running.

There are some free ones and some AAA ones that are super popular (for the time being) and you will have tons of matches (till the game dies u.u)

2. Do you already have a Steam Deck? If not, I don't know if you really need one, sounds like the switch already scratches that itch and it isn't like you are tied to Steam due to a large library. I mean, there are obviously VERY good reasons for buying a steam deck outside of playing steam games but, ya know, keeping it in the context of the thread.

3. Numbering this post was stupid

4. I looked at your profile at it made me sad when I saw Evolve in your library. Amazing game, died deadfully. That is why I sound so mad in bullet-point #1

5. I am restricting myself to speaking selectively in terms of selecting restrictively. What is in your wallet is in between you and Sam Jackson... and Gabe... wait.. and Tim now too cuz...

look, its just not EVERYONE'S business, you buy/play wev you feel like
1. I haven't looked I just thought it was a cool. Since I dont play many games its like hard to look at the vast amount of games that just wouldnt interest me. I think i seen a list once but nothing stood out, might be updated now. ill try googling that verified list again and see if i can find anything on there, i was wondering what people would reccomend. Also i wanted to let it be known what Id like to play on steam os if it could ever be made possible, although i see now its more of a developer thing to allow.

2. yeah it came like a week ago finally. I got into pc gaming like maybe 4 years ago after building my first one, and i kept going in and in on the building and learned it all cuz it is a lot you can get into there. not saying i learned it ALL but i got into it. I started building mining rigs too lol (sorry gamers) last year. im late to everything it seems. but as far as playing i like running destiny cuz it looks so cool compared to xbox one which is where i came from. i was like bruh this is way better. so im a console gamer turned to pc for the fps and graphics, less input delay stuff. but even on xbox all i played was destiny and gta. when i was poor i only played like nintendo games and mostly smash cuz i played that since i was like 4 and i feel like its easy to constantly enjoy. loved the ds and 3ds(easy hacks), one of those wii u lovers. always played whatever i could on 3ds and now switch. on wii u it was like smash and splatoon.

3. les go

4. Yeah i played that so long ago like once and realized it no work at that time. looked cool too.

5. lol i was just getting on the bro about saying im not selective and more restrictive cuz i play what is now a free to play game. like if you dont want me to assume you think thats all i play like i havent spent so much money on software and hardware for gaming like most people, then stop suggesting i play more free to play games or bringing that up like a passive insult and then say theres nothing wrong with it lol. i never ask for free to play games i just said online games, thats what gets me into games, playing online with people.

its not everyones business, but i dont mind sharing, and anyone thats wants to know what i play instead of suggesting a game like the one i described in my post can just inspect the business of my steam library and comment on that. all fair. just saying people should make fall guys, destiny 2 and halo infinite which i havent played in forever possible on this steam os so i can play one game ive played before on it. they dont have to im just saying what i play i cant play on steam deck yet. cuz my windows is freezing up trying to install this amd driver so im thinking im gonna go ahead and restart it and try again lol. at least i got it to boot this time, but im thinking im stuck buying a new ssd cuz oh yeah doing this off a sd card was actually a terrible idea. i should have gone with the 512.

Im installing drivers rn, unfortunately im on the 64 model and opted to run windows off the sd card. its a yikes as far as loading goes, but im trying to be patient and see where it goes LOL might not work idk but i followed a tutorial and i guess theres no hurt in trying while i wait to do the unreccomended and open this bad boy up for a ssd upgrade

aw now i feel dumb for deleting my post. your reply was on point with what I was trying to say.

I didn't want it to seem like I was starting something but the whole 'maybe if you played real games' thing irked me. Some of my favorite games are f2p and most of them because of the community. I checked your profile because that other dude came in hot. It was obvious that you aren't trolling and that your thread is earnest. I went and found some games and made the comment about 'maybe you dont need a steam deck' but then it felt like I was playing into that whole 'here are some free and f2p games' tone. so I deleted it.

I just use the regular Steam search function. Every other way of looking for steam verified games requires more effort for less results. Just click on deck verified as one of the search filters and then filters u would normally click on. easiest way imo

It is pretty cool that you have a Steam Deck, this thing is a little beast and I feel lucky to have one lol. Hearing your reasons for switching to PC and getting a steam deck just proves that you are EXACTLY the customer Valve is going after with the Steam Deck. Now they just gotta figure out how to get you NOT to install windows lol.
bean May 18, 2022 @ 11:53pm
going back to the difficulty in searching for games for the Steam Deck, I find it to be kind of a pain simply because of the OVERLOAD of games on these lists. I don't care about the majority of titles in my own game library being compatible, let alone Steam's library :steamsalty:

use Steam's search tool, it makes it easier to see what you actually want.

youre all good bro i appreciate you completely. its hard to read tones in text sometimes, im just glad we understand each other now c:

so this steam search and deck verified filter, is that on the deck itself or on steam app on pc? im bad at ui sometimes lol

the deck is a cool device, i got it because the game boy started it, and it keeps going. you see those portable pcs, i got the first gpd win cuz it was 300 bucks. most of the good ones are like 1200 at least or more, so this hardware at this price is unstoppable to me. worth trying out and just cool to have. im hoping it does get to be widely available to people one day when everything works more easily and the library gets even more competitive. I love the decks ui, windows rn is cool but the sd thing makes it terrible in comparison lol so im hoping bungie will work to find a ways and maybe the battleye for proton gets more reliable to them. anything to keep that going would be cool, ik its just a hard get to stream unless the hardware works better. mainly rn if geforce now got controller support from the decks controls like a controller does from any other device you stream it on, it would be easy to stay off windows. mapping it to keyboard and mouse causes so many weird differences and lost of that built in controller support destiny has so, i hope they can at least get that to work. it looks great running of the chrome browser, but its not seeing the controller even tho there was a konsole code that said it would work, it doesnt work for destiny as far as ive seen so far.
the updates are very exciting and deck is just getting started and its cool to be part of that

lots of people who like emulation and such would enjoy it a lot and people that like to tinker with linux so i get it being out like this, i just hope it does go the distance and we do see that evolution continue.
