Steam Deck
"no internet access" when trying to start a game
This started happening a few days ago, Any game I try to start immediately unstarts.

If I switch to desktop mode, I get a better error message: "no internet connection" or something.

But the Steam store and firefox work fine.

I have tried:

Logging out and in again to Steam
Restarting
Turning off Cloud Sync

Any ideas?

Huh, this is even worse.

If I switch from using my home broadband connection to using my cell 4g via a mobile hotspot, it all works. But my home broadband works ok with steam on my linux pc, so the issue is some interaction between Deck and my broadband...
Going to try a factory reset I guess
try setting a different DNS server on your broadband... (or on SteaOS 3's connection settings)

There's a weird issue with the Asian and African servers this week. It's causing the "cannot connect to the internet" issue. Try changing your download servers to a region outside those and see if it works.

Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly how to do this on the Deck, but it should be somewhere in the settings.
This may not help at all but…
Check of your router does 2.5Ghz&5Ghz combined.
My router combines the 2.5&5ghz signal into one signal
My laptop disconnects all the time from my router unless I separate the 2.5G & 5G signal
So I set my router to separate the signal, it’s in the router settings
It shows two WiFi connections
And I get no disconnects
My home 2.5ghz
My home 5Ghz

Sorry if this doesn’t help. Good luck 🤞
Sometimes my linux laptop does this.
In Steam, I'll set it to offline. Then logout.
I'll then disassociate the wifi. reboot. then re-establish a wifi login. Check with a browser. Then log into Steam.

If it still chokes, I reboot my router then while rebooting, I'll repeat the laptop steps (Steam offline & logout, wifi logoff, reboot, wifi logon, steam login). Then it will clear up.

(FWIW - my laptop is using the 2.4 Ghz of my router that does both 2.4 & 5Ghz)
Turn on developer mode in settings. A new tab 'developer mode' will appear, and there you can disable wifi power saving. That fixed the issue for me.
I know it's an old thread, but thanks a ton Fierman, I can confirm that disabling wifi power saving fixed the issue!
Before, by Steam Deck didnt show my avatar in the top right and downloading games said "no internet connection". Restarts and reconnecting didnt help, but that did. :)
