Why are Rockstar games unsupported on Deck?
Both Max Payne 3 and L.A Noire are showing as unsupported.

I managed to get L.A Noire running on the Deck using Proton experimental.

would be nice, or at least if valve "asked them" to allow valve to offer an alternative to skip those launchers when installing and using the games through steam.

many games work with their launchers in linux, but they still suck big time and sometimes break features of the games, even with "native versions". two examples are xcom 2 and cities skylines. they used to be great before devs added the bs launchers. in xcom 2, the launcher disables all mods, which is the one thing that has kept that game alive and well. that was partially fixed with an alternative launcher, or a hack, but devs so far ignore all complains about their official launcher.

Max Payne 3 can run great on Deck you just gotta get through the Rockstar Social Club install by tapping on the touch screen like 2 times.

Rockstar would love to address this issue and prioritize their focus on providing a solution but are currently maxing out their resources combating hackers in GTA Online. Haven't you noticed the smooth sailing we've been having in GTA:O? :csgo_headshot:

oh that's cool.

Yeah, unfortunately the game doesn’t have cloud save support so I can’t carry over my data

you can try to move the files manually:

for windows versions of games:
1) find the saves on windows (depends on the game)
2) run the game once on linux so Proton can automatically create a prefix folder for it
3) here is where it will be:
https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Proton/wiki/Proton-FAQ#how-does-proton-manage-wine-prefixes
4) replace the savefiles in the prefix folder with your original ones

I’ll give it a shot. It doesn’t look like the Rockstar launcher has it own cloud save system.

For what it's worth, the Rockstar games I've tried, the Steam Versions of GTAIV, GTAV, RDR2 (with Proton 6.3-8, otherwise I get crashes here and there) and Bully have been working fine with my Steam Deck.

Launch the game in Proton GE. (Max Payne is currently unsupported on Deck through the official build) Don’t touch the screen or press any buttons on your Deck until you are prompted to accept the Social Club BS. Use the touchscreen to click those two boxes when they appear.
