Controls Stop Working

The controller eventually stops working with certain games. I initially experienced this with all Lego games. I chalked it up to the Beta update, so I did a re-imaging and full reinstall. Controls worked fine for about a week, then today they won't work with Lego Hobbit or DOOM Eternal. External controllers don't work either. No input detected at all, but on other games they work fine. For DOOM Eternal I connected a mouse and the the mouse cursor will only move around the border of the screen in Game Mode, while it works normally in Desktop Mode. Tried forcing compatibility to a different version of Proton and it didn't help.

Got it working. I went to Options->Properties->Compatibility and selected 'Proton Experimental'.

This got the controls working for the Lego games as well.

No problem.

Just a quick update. I had this happen again with DOOM Eternal on a new Deck and this time I didn't put it into Developer Mode, just did the 'Delete Proton Files' and set the compatibility to Proton Experimental and it worked.

Happened to me with the Halo collection. I was manually remapping keyboard buttons to the controller buttons for each game because the save across all games button wouldn't work, and then beating my head against the wall because the menus were a nightmare to navigate. You have saved me from oblivion. I couldn't find anything about this anywhere.

Tried doing this for the new TMNT and doesn't work. All controls stopped for me, deck, wired Xbox and even mouse and keyboard. Anyone else having issues with TMNT? I have posted in that fourm as well but nothing so far.

Edit: reinstalled 3 times and reimaged the deck, still happens

This is now happening to me as well. Ive gone back and forth with support . I cant even reimage mines because of lack of controls. Is there a resolve tp this?

I've been having this issue with doom eternal. It will not allow me to press "a" to continue on startup screen. Both the controller on steam deck and Xbox controller elite 2 won't even allow me to toggle up or down. If I bring up virtual kb I can hit enter to load next screen but can go beyond that. When it did work with controller it was running beautiful.

Any simple solutions? I tried uninstall but that didn't seem to help.

Had this issue with A Hat in Time (latent) and Tetris Effect: Connected (since first launch) and simply changing to Proton Experimental worked for both. Thanks!

Interestingly, staying on Proton 7.0-4 after deleting Proton files for the latter causes an installer to show up[imgur.com]. Game still runs whether or not I go through with installation.

WARNING: Back up your save data here beforehand to preserve it if you are going to delete the games' Proton files, which from my experience wasn't necessary.

I updated the post I made to reflect that it doesn't seem necessary to delete the Proton files first. My son had this issue with Stick Fight and Paint the Town Red and just switching to Proton Experimental fixed it.

I can not get my ps5 controller to work with this game I’ve uninstalled it and back again 4 times tried all the controller settings steam deck side and ps5 settings with in the controller settings on steam wow head f any one please help
