the validation label is assigned by those professionals, not crowdsourced, but you can still contribute by reporting labeling issues:
https://www.gamingonlinux.com/2022/03/looks-like-valve-are-adding-a-feedback-system-for-steam-deck-verified/
understandably they started by the more popular games, working their way down towards less mainstream stuff, but there are quite a few surprising entries already verified
you can check the currently verified games, from steam's entire catalog and specifically from your own library:
https://www.steamdeck.com/en/verified
and not being verified yet does not prevent you from buying and trying a game on the deck either
as an additional resource, you may want to look up the as-of-yet unverified games in https://www.protondb.com/ too... it is an older crowdsourced evaluation website for how well windows games run via steam proton on linux PCs, so it's a good clue to how well it should work on the deck
Is a popular site for Linux compatability. Just link it to your deck and start playing and reporting
I ordered day one at 1:14 central time and got the 64gb . I'm still waiting
