Prototype 2 should be "verified" not "playable"
The only reason this game is marked "playable" is because the default controls don't work. The problem is that for some reason this game defaults to a keyboard and mouse template. Switching to a gamepad template makes the game work perfectly. Everything works as expected and the default graphics settings are great. It's even 16:10 800p with no black bars.

Valve, make sure this game defaults to a gamepad template and mark it verified. The problem is that Steam chooses the wrong controller template. The game is not at fault here.

That sound like a specific reason why it should be listed as "playable" and not "Verified".

Some functionality is not accessible when using the default controller configuration, requiring use of the touchscreen or virtual keyboard, or a community configuration

This is because the developer/publisher has either not enabled Steam Input and/or has not configured and provided a default controller profile.

I highly doubt most games has the developers choosing the gamepad template as default. It seems to be Steam just choosing it based of games that report having controller support. I don't see why Valve can't just change what the default template is to make it a verified title.

Look at the store page for Prototype 2. It doesn't list controller support. That's most likely why it defaulted to a KBAM config.

Correct, in order to be listed as Verified it must have "full controller support" and have a default controller profile. It also must have the correct associated controller glyphs.

More specifically in the above doc, Deck Compatibility Checklist

And that is probably the one big reason why its not verified.

When I made this post, the default Proton version was running the game perfectly.
Lol the game won't even start

Most playable games should be verified by that standard because nearly all of them work perfectly out of the box, I couldn't care less the icons are wrong, or need to change resolution manually or whatever, i would check it regardless anyways.
But id rather them keep standards high for verifications, verified and playable is same to me.
