Steam Deck

B Button is catching and sticking.
Apparently this is an issue that 1 in 5 Steam Deck owners seems to be running into, myself included, where the B button will, if pressed down and slightly forward such as when you naturally roll your thumb from the A button onto the B button, snag onto the edge of the socket it is recessed in, and either take a brief moment before popping back up with an audible click, or just completely sticking and not coming up unless you apply pressure backwards on the button to wedge it free.

Is anyone else having this issue, have you RMA'd over it, and have you had any success with your replacement unit?

Hey, having the same exact issue and I'm actually about to send out my deck. My one and only holdup is if the replacement units are new and not refurbished...

It isn't worth an RMA.

You can lightly sand it on the top and it solves the issue.

I don't know, I just got it I don't really care if I have to wait another week. And might be worth sending it there so they are aware of this issue.

I read that the more you use it the less it sticks, my Decks controls felt perfect except I had a really tough Right Stick button but after now 3 weeks of using my Steam Deck the RS button feels like my LS one and they both feel like any other controllers. So I'd say play something that requires a lot of mashing B and give it a few weeks it might work. RMA can take up to a month and with how you could get more problems when sent back or even shipping issues it might just not be worth the risk if the B button can loosen with usage.

Same problem here, I have decided not to RMA, many (most) I have talked to that have this issue have told me that the problem eventually wears itself down to stop. Or you can use the sandpaper fix that has been posted on reddit (and I have seen here in the forums).

Of course you should RMA if it bothers you, instead of trying to "fix" the problem yourself. But keep in mind that a replacement unit may come with another issue, like background bleeding, stick drifting, L1 buttons clicks not registering, coil whining, etc... I almost never used the b button so it wouldn't be worth the risk for me personally.

Ignore the FUD above me.

Mine doesn't stick at all anymore after some very light sanding and then just regular use. It isn't worth the RMA since it will fix itself as it's used.
