Does downloading drain the battery at a rapid pace for anyone else?
Noticed my deck would shut off with a near full charge but I thought the update fixed that issue. I bought monster hunter rise on sale and while downloading the game noticed how quickly the battery drained. Is it just me?

how fast is the connection and how long does the download take?
hard to tell what is inside or outside of expected performance without knowing.

Just noticed. I have gigabit internet and the game downloaded pretty quickly. Wasn't keeping track but I think it downloaded in less than 10 mins and only because I took the device away from the router for a bit.

anything that consumes gpu, or needs battery, will obviously drain it faster.
download only when you have the deck connected to power.

For some reason the SteamOS home screen seems to use WAY more battery then it should be, unless I turn TDP limit on. It doesn't make sense to see the power draw ramping up to 16mw or more when IDLE on the home screen.

I downloaded 200GB of games and it drained the battery FAST. It makes sense - the device has to read & write constantly, decompressing the games (= CPU intensive) and keeping the wifi at max load.

I have the same problem. I just got my deck 2 days ago and noticed that it tends to drain battery faster when navigating the store/home screen than during actual gameplay. Also when downloading games it drains like 12-15 W which I found a bit shocking.

well for me it just turn off like one minute after I start downloading if it is disconnected from power. Even with full charge. Then I must put it on charger because it not starts otherwise. When I start it again battery is around 80%. I literally can not try to download anything if I am not at electricity because it will disable device util I am able to plug it in again :/

I've been testing the Steam app on Ubuntu, and I am seeing similar battery usage there also.
