Steam Deck Not Charging stays at 0%
Hello,
I am having trouble charging my steam deck. Ever since I received the the deck I was unable to charge it and the battery stays at 0%. I am only using the provided charging adapter. I have attempted to troubleshoot the problem by doing the follow:

- Let it charge over night
- Shutdown the deck then charge
- Leave the deck out not charging for 1.5 hours then charge
- Go to bios menu and put battery into storage mode
- factory reset my device
- I have tried hold the power button when it is shutdown to see flashes but I do not see any flashes
- when I was first using the deck the touchscreen did not work but after awhile the touch screen started working
- The steam usb- c charger works to charge my phone

I cannot update my device since it does not charge to 20%.

Contact support, battery may be goosed or not even connected?

Any updates on this? Have a friend dealing with the same issue...did everything you listed and still 0%. It doesn't feel like the ghost charging issue I've been seeing.

We're just worried about voiding the warranty by opening the unit and checking to see if the battery cable is connected or else we would have tried that by now. If it comes down to RMA I feel like they might say we ruined it by opening it.

If there’s no solution from other users, just have your friend contact Support. Don’t open it if you’re not 110% sure about fixing the issue.

RMA is always better.

They aren't crazy either like some company.

I would still say it's better to not open it tho.

The battery connector is pretty buried near the SSD

I went to support and had to send video of the steam deck connected to the psu for an hour with battery staying at 0% to receive an RMA. My steam deck is estimated to get to steam facility by Monday. Hopefully I can will receive a new steam deck soon.

Put Deck into shipment mode

Plug charger back in, power on device

This solution worked like a charm. Hoping there will be a fix for this from happening.

How to enter shipping mode, there's a few ways this is how I do it. Shut down the Deck. Hold the volume up button and press the power button, it'll boot up to the selection screen, go to the lower right "Setup Utility". -Once there go down to Power -First option there is "Battery storage mode" select and hit enter. A prompt will come up explaining what will happen next.

My rma replacement is having this issue, really hoping I can find a fix instead of shipping this one back too and waiting another month

Calibrate the battery

Charge to full (about 2-4 hours)

Use until battery dies

Try to turn on, maybe even plug it in for a bit to force it to start and after it gets to login unplug and let it drain

Plug it in and don't turn it on. If it turns on somehow, let it drain and try again

Let it charge overnight, 6-8 hours.
