Bluetooth Issue

Unable to pair either my airpods or AirPods Pro to the Steam Deck. Tried restarting the unit, ensured software was most up to date as of 3/17/22 and did a factory reset then updated software. Nothing has fixed the bug. Guessing I have a faulty unit. Anyone else experiencing the same issue and not being able to connect any Bluetooth devices?

When I try to connect my AirPods within the steam UI, the connection circle just hangs and nothing happens. Tried connecting both the airpods and AirPods Pro using desktop mode and no luck either.

I cant connect air pods pro to my steamdeck either. Did everything the troubleshooting section suggests nothing works, puttin in a ticket doesnt work either. Does anyone know what to do? The airpods pro do not show up in the list of devices to pair, even when you select show all devices, in either gaming or desktop mode it doesnt work. I mean its not like these are cheap no name earbuds these are apple air pod pro for crying out loud.

just got my steam deck. My airpod pros connected just fine. Open the lid, and don't remove the pods. Press the sync button on the back of the case, then go to the steam deck bluetooth menu in settings. showed up after a slight delay.

i'm getting a lot of audio issues with them. is there any way to force the mic to default to the internal input in order to prevent the AirPods Pro switching to HSP mode thus reducing audio quality?

Unless you've modified SteamOS, HSP is disabled/unsupported by default. You can try changing the BT profile in desktop mode to SBC for better latency.

I think there was an update between the time that i posted that and now that fixed this issue because one day about 3 weeks ago they just mysteriously started working like they should.

Thanks! Still need to learn a lot with this thing. Overall pretty impressed so far, just received the unit yesterday. I'll try the SBC suggestion. Switched over to my AirPods Max this morning and still had an issue that was fixed by restarting the Deck. Will try again with the AirPods Pro!

Sorry for the super delayed response here. I initially had trouble pairing the Pros because of the Find My feature. Someone at Steam suggested I turn it off and try pairing. Was able to pair no problem after that. Not sure why the Find My feature was the issue but hopefully this helps anyone who experiences the same issue.

This helped me: on iphone go to settings -> bluetooth -> airpods -> details. And rename them (i just added some suffix)
