Games with a dialogue box at launch
Some games have a dialogue box at launch to select resolution, graphical settings, etc.

See Helltaker, 8-Bit Bayonetta...

This pops up every time and the only input option during this time is touchscreen. Is there no option to force a mouse cursor with the touchpads?

Not that I am aware. I agree it can be annoying, particularly when the applet is quite small and the choices have defaulted back to a setting and you are attempting to change them. There may be a launch parameter you could add but I am not aware on a per game basis what would be required.

You can use the mouse cursor in most cases with holding donw the Steam Button and the right Trackpad

THIS WORKS!!1

How did you figure this one out? I did not see this explained anywhere.

Also, I now need to find a way to have these games remember the setting and skip that dialog box completely.

Long pressing the steam-key will show all the special input stuff.

Check out PCGamingWiki & Steam guides. A ton of launchers can be bypassed and a ton of people have figured that out before you.

Yeah it seems like the specific dialog box I want to bypass is something that happens with Unity games and I am going to have to manually add launch parameters for every unity game one by one. Trying to see if there's just some universal thing that can be done as a set it and forget it.

There's none. No built-in anyway, you could write a program, sitting in background, waiting for launchers, confirming them when they pop up.

Shame.

I am seeing that there is an option within the Unity Development stage to enable/disable this popup so it appears the developers need to modify this to make it a smoother experience on the Deck

... or a smoother experience in general. It's not like launchers are anything new on the Deck.
