External Storage problems
I'm having some trouble using external storage on the Deck OS in desktop mode. Regardless of mounting or system links, it seems neither Lutris or Wine can recognise my external storage (USB or Micro SD). The only workaround so far is to put all the files for a game I want to install on the internal storage, however with games like Cyberpunk taking up a significant amount my 256GB model simply can't install some newer games like this. Is anyone else having this problem or has any kind of fix they may know of?

What format are you using for the external storage?

On USB storage ExFAT, but the Micro SD was formatted on the Deck itself for Steam installs. They show up and are readable in the file browser, Steam installs games to the SD card just fine, and Yuzu (For the record, I own a switch and am emulating games I physically own) is able to access the USB storage and run from it without issue.

have you tried formatting the card to "ext4" rather than "exfat" before using it?

I'm also having external story issues. I wanted to use my collection of SD cards via a USB-C reader. Game UI refuses to format any card via the external reader. One work around I had was to ...

1) take micro SD cards, format them with the internal reader

2) stick the formatted card into a full size adapter and open steam in desktop mode

3) add the external SD card as storage

4) head back to game UI, install and play game.

The MAJOR problem with this is the fact that as soon as you unplug the SD card, Steam just magically forgets that you added the card as storage. You have to go back into desktop mode and re-add the card. On top of all this, it would be nice if there was some easy (GUI) way to format drives from Desktop UI. Not everyone is a master at using the Linux terminal.

It doesn't seem to matter, the /run/media folder where storage mounts is invisible to those programs' file browsers (I did check with show hidden folders enabled in them). PowerISO joins the list too, being unable to see the folder or open ISOs when selecting them through Dolphin.

Are you referring to them not mounting when you re-insert them? In desktop mode open the popup for mounting them, then in the top right click the middle icon to open the mounting settings. You can set removable drives to auto-mount in there. Hope that helps.

Weird! I can hot swap my SD cards in Desktop mode but not Game UI. I swear it's like "close but no cookie" lol

From what I read, use FAT32 to share between linux and windows, and Ext4 for linux only.

That discover is a boon. no sudo, nothing on a lot of programs. Dropped in ProtonUp-QT to get GE and even my favorite browser, Brave is in there.

I had to download flatseal in order to give wine and lutris permissions to access all file systems (also from Discover). Wine could access the sd card afterwards.

I have an issue when I plugged a ssd with and enclosure into my steam deck it turned off and won't come back on. Also charge led does not light up when on the charger. Getting late, so tomorrow hopefully un plugging the battery and plugging back in works.
