It matters for battery life. As for ghosting, I'm not sure what devices you've had issues with, but I've not experienced ghosting that's worse than on an IPS screen. The Twist-something or other LCD screens are really fast, but that's not what the Gabe Gear is using. My LCD monitor is no better in regards to ghosting than my Samsung tablet, Pixel phone, or my old Vivo Air phone (and you can't tell me a chinese iPhone knockoff from 8 years ago has some kind of super awesome OLED display). [/quote]
I meant burnin, as in stationary, static icons like "message" and "youtube" that is always at the bottom of my screen, those buttons have all been burned into my screen. Other displays never had this issue. The way to mitigate this, is with making sure you're not doing full blast on display, but that still means you only prolong the inevitable.
Ah.
Well, that too is something I've fortunately not experienced, but I am keenly aware that it's an issue. It is something I worry about, but I feel that so long as I don't use the tablet for 10 years, I should be fine. After 3 years, the screen doesn't have any burnin, but the battery degradation is very noticeable. If it were using an IPS screen, it would be even worse. So it's kind of a case of picking your battles. From my experience, burnin is a much lesser issue.
I will take the risk but OLED has matured Nintendo are doing it so thats my arguement for it. And havinf used them they are amazing hands down it blows IPS away. So i am not going to buy the Steam Deck until there is a premium OLED version.
Specfically 512gb OLED.... Ty
That's probably the best argument for most any technology. lol. Nintendo has a very long history of choosing time test tech. If they use it, it's cheap and mature.
Yep Nintendo did it so lets see Valve copy it. It is cheap and mature even my phone OLED screen used to have a repair cost of £200 now the same screen costs £60. A 1280x720 OLED 60hz should be mature i wonder what sizes they make? 7 inch is documented but there an 8 inch OLED?
Steam deck already has FSR which solves power issues.

Hopefully the next Steam Deck goes with the full speed of USB4 and we can do this much easier.
I'm used to 8-digits in many such applications.
Y'know, you could just make it a user-customization setting, 4,6,8 digits, etc....
