I a big fan of billizard games, especially D2R. I wonder if steam deck will support the game. Or have to install windows OS?

Find a game on lutris that runs on battle.net (Eg Overwatch). Install the dependencys and change the variables in the install process to Diablo 2 REM and give it a try. Usualy after some weeks some people already publish their result. It's not magic, - just some trial error and/or responding to error messages at the install process in wine. (I could try it myself, but i didn't buy the game. Blizzard is getting on my nerves with what they do right now and i won't support their cause)

I don't think that at all. Windows is not designed for handhelds - it will never deliver a good user experience on the Steam Deck and Valve will not waste many resources trying to support it.

But Steams coming Big Picture Mode that is used on the Deck. KDE is also not designed for handhelds.

That's irrelevant. Windows is not a desktop environment.

And Arch is also not only a desktop environment and not designed for Handhelds. The Difference just make Steam with its new Big Picture Mode.

No it isn't. SteamOS is optimized for the Steam Deck and Windows is not. That's the difference.

They just cook with water like everyone else too. The Big difference is just there own stuff with the big picture mode. like with the older steam machines, they where not special and just used of the shelf software for it. now they just use a rolling release distro and put a huge amount of work in proton and the FOSS Drivers.

Do provide the link to the repo of SteamOS 3.0 that you have based these findings on.

this is the most simple way.

you will need to install lutris in steam deck, and then use it to install diablo 2. lutris will download all files needed to install and run the game, but if theres a problem, you can also tell lutris which files are the installers and it will use them.

https://lutris.net/games?q=diablo+&ordering=name

imomforget about windows before learning and trying the new os. windows can be installed, but isnt supported officially (you cant complain or ask for help to valve if you use windows with the deck)

but unlike windows de, kde offers many options to adjust every single aspect of the interface, including the size of buttons of windows, appearance, etc.

oc that can be overwhelming for someone new to kde, but hopefully steam os will offer a theme with settings that will work well with the size of the deck, and maybe will also offer a guide to learn how to adjust everything to make it friendlier (one thing that scares many from linux and kde is having to read a lot of documentation; maybe good and easy to follow video tutorial could be helpful).
